We Love Our Counselors

National School Counseling Week was celebrated February 2–6, 2026, and culminated this week at the CSD Board of Education meeting, where all CSD counselors were recognized for their hard work and dedication to our students. We are incredibly appreciative of the outstanding counselors across CSD, and especially proud of our very own F.Ave counselors, Mrs. Anglin and Dr. Heron!

City Schools of Decatur has a long history of honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King by celebrating many of our students who embody the values of freedom, justice, democracy and service. This year, the MLK/CSK award will be presented to two students from each upper elementary school, three students from the middle school, and four students from the high school. Applications are due February 12, 2026. The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Please see the award submission guidelines for more information.

Families are invited to our annual Night of Expressions at F.AVE! Each grade level will have their own night to shine! Students will share a selection of their work from their current IB Units of Inquiry.

3rd Grade: Tuesday, February 23rd - 6:00 p.m.

4th Grade: Wednesday, February 24th

Color and Culture program - 6:00 p.m.

Please take a moment this week to make your voice heard and participate in the Georgia Department of Education climate survey for your school! Your participation and feedback are greatly appreciated. The data collected will help determine the School Climate Star Ratings for the 2026-27 school year, which will enable schools to improve or build upon their successes.

Love My Bus Month

February is Love My Bus Month, a time to celebrate the incredible school bus drivers and transportation teams who safely get our students to and from school every day. From early mornings to afternoon drop-offs, they help keep our school community moving with care and a smile.

Families are invited to show their appreciation all month long - Let’s show the love!
