Beautifying the Halls of SHS
Students in Ms. Titze's art class have been busy! Students in Comprehensive Creative Arts have been working on producing realistic art with drawings of detailed shoes and eyes.
Pottery students have been making coil vases, like Aryison shows in the photo below. They also had the opportunity to practice their slipping and scoring skills to make their own tic-tac-toe boards. Students got to choose their design, with ideas ranging from a pool table with stripes and solids as game pieces to waffles with strawberries and blue berries as shown in the photo.
Finally, Drawing & Painting class students competed in the Color Mixing Olympics! As a class, students learned how to mix a color exactly how they see it to get a solid color match. To showcase their color theory knowledge, students competed in a race to see who could mix each color the fastest AND most accurately!
March Madness
Student Council helped to celebrate March Madness this past week with dress up days including jersey day, favorite team color day, and Fit Friday. Working with the Student Council was Mrs. Lehrke's Culinary Arts students who graciously loaned their kitchen space to help prepare and sell healthy fruit snacks to the student body. Pictured is Reed, ready to help hungry students!
Future Ad Executives at SHS
Sophomores in Ms. Prendergast's Speech class recently used some fun outfits to help jazz up their commercial presentation speeches. Students work to create a product and then write a commerical that uses ethos, pathos, logos, logical fallacies, and some glitz and glammour to sell it to their classmates. Air Zoomies (a new shoe), The Fish Whisperer ( a new lure), and Dream Sip ( a drink to help you fall asleep) were just a few of the creative ideas being sold.
Best of Luck to the State FFA Attendees!
Ready for Battle!
Gym class can be a battle some days, but thankfully, Jayden and Miles are prepared! Mr. Karst got some extra help from these two gentlemen as he took inventory of all the gym equipment available for student use.
Next year students will have the new option of two different gym classes. Team Sports will focus on providing students the knowledge, experience, and opportunity to develop skills in activities like basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc. while Recreation Sports will provide students the opportunity to develop skills in recreational sports or outdoor pursuits such as adventure activities, croquet, Frisbee, wall climbing, bocce ball, fishing, hiking, and cycling.
Homework Help-Extra! Extra!
Stay caught up with your homework and grades by participating in Homework Help every Thursday in the SHS library from 3:20-5:00 pm. Come for a quiet space to work and extra support from teachers.
An extra Homework Help session will be held Tuesday, April 8th in preparation for quarter midterms.
