When I think of emergency situations to prepare and drill for, I can't say that a major earthquake is what comes to mind first. However, we all know that Herriman sits atop the Wasatch Fault. According to the US Geological Survey, There is a 57% probability of a magnitude 6.0 or greater earthquake along the Wasatch Front in the next 50 years.

Thankfully, each year schools and other institutions across the state of Utah participate in The Great Shake Out! On Thursday morning all staff and students at PHES will "Drop, Cover, and Hold on" when they here the prompt from the loud speaker.

Cuando pienso en situaciones de emergencia para las cuales prepararse y realizar simulacros, no puedo decir que un terremoto de gran magnitud sea lo primero que me viene a la mente. Sin embargo, todos sabemos que Herriman se asienta sobre la Falla de Wasatch. Students have been asking the question can I bring my own recess equipment from home? The answer is no. We ask that students leave all their footballs, soccer balls, wall balls, jump ropes, etc at home. But great news we have recess equipment for each grade level. Each grade level has their own recess cart that goes out at their recess time. However as you can imagine some items get lost over time. If you would like to purchase items to help refill our recess carts we would appreciate it. Thanks
