MONTHLY MINDSET-- Live to Give

Receive Gracefully – One of the hardest things for people to deal with when they start living their dreams is that they’re uncomfortable receiving the new and wonderful things that come into their lives. They may not feel worthy or know how to react. As a result, when opportunity knocks or people want to help them, they shut the door and don’t allow themselves to accept what the universe is offering them. The problem is that these gifts could be a source of joy, fulfillment, and opportunity to their lives. If we don’t receive gracefully, we cut off the cycle of giving and limit our own potential.

Hearts of Fun

This week's highlights were the Valentine's Day parties! We celebrated Valentine's Day on Wednesday. There were games, food, and FUN! Begindergarten received a surprise visit from Principal Cupid in connection to a book that we read about the Night before Valentine's Day! Everyone enjoyed themselves, and I think all went home on a sugar high!

There was also a lot of learning that took place this week as well. It's fun to see the level of engagement taking place in the classrooms. Whether it's fifth graders studying nonfiction textual elements, fourth graders playing a math game, third graders working through guided reading, second graders reviewing Math facts, first graders learning a new phonics rule, kindergarten doing a fun science experiment, or begindergarten and preschool reviewing numbers and letters there's always something fun and exciting happening in our classrooms.

It's that time of year where everyone is BUSY! There's never a dull day at Parkston Elementary. The enthusiasm of our teachers and students makes it fun to come to work.

The only bummer of the week is the amount of sickness going around. Please encourage your child to wash their hands and bring the appropriate winter gear. It's cold and flu season, and we all need to do our part to stay healthy. If you're noticing signs of sickness, please keep your child home. There's a lot of gunk going around and we don't want to spread it. Thanks in advance for taking appropriate measures to keep everyone healthy.
