June Newsletter
Message from Administration
Dear Families,
What a wonderful year we have had so far! This community of learners makes us proud every day. In May, we celebrated so many wonderful student achievements.
Our two music concerts were nothing short of outstanding. Thank you students and teachers for your hard work. Our IB event showcasing the culminating projects of our PYP and MYP students was so impressive. To see students embrace challenging topics, and think about how to make an impact on their local and global communities is inspirational. Their diverse topics and approaches really highlighted how far these students have come as researchers, collaborators, global thinkers, and risk takers.
We want to wish our Grade 9 students success in their move to high school. These students have brought such leadership to our K-9 community this year, and we will sincerely miss their presence in our hallways.
Mrs. Androschuk would like to take the opportunity, at the close of her first year here as principal, to personally thank the members of our school's community for welcoming her with kindness. "It has been a joy to share in your child(ren)'s educational journey with you all this year. Our students make me smile every day, and I am grateful to be here."
We wish every St. Clement student and family member blessings for a restful summer. Just a few weeks to go, Chargers!

A Look Ahead at Next Year
Class Assignments for Students
We are so excited for the 2026-2027 school year ahead! Many of our staff have decided to remain here at St. Clement; we are blessed. We are excited to welcome Jennifer Gorcak back in junior high mathematics, and Ian Snyder - former St. Clement grad! - to our teaching team as well. We are still working on class configurations for next year, as our school was awarded some teacher positions through the Class Size Reduction Grant for next year. We are still working on trying to hire and reconfigure elementary based on this exciting news. If there is anything you think we need to know about your child(ren) in terms of their placement(s) for next year, please have a conversation with us in the coming weeks. Once we release your child(ren)'s classroom assignments for next year in late August, it is typically too late to make any changes, as many factors go into creating well-balanced classroom lists. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
School Supply Lists
School supply lists will be posted to our school website as soon as they are ready. Up to date lists will be available by the end of June.
School Hours for Next Year
School hours for next year have changed slightly. Our minutes are adjusted each year based on the number of instructional days.
Lost and Found
Please pop in any day you might be dropping off or picking up to check our lost and found! Any items not collected by the end of the year will be bagged and donated.
Congratulations - BRONZE at the Canada Wide Science Fair!
Congratulations Faith!
Congratulations to Grade 9 student Faith on receiving our school's "Shine Bright Be Fearless" award! This special award is given each year to a female grade 9 student who demonstrates excellence and consistency in academic achievement, despite having experienced hardships. Faith is a shining example of humility, kindness, perseverance, and integrity. As part of her recognition, Faith received a hand-written certificate, a curated box of self-care items, and a Southgate shopping spree. Faith - you are amazing and we are proud to know you as a Charger!
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Titan, Abriel, and Ayak on receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in May.
IB Learner Profile of the Month - Reflective
How can parents help to develop students who are Reflective at home?
• Spend some time reviewing their report card with them. They should have the opportunity to look at this document and consider it as well. Discuss it with them and truly consider their thoughts on their strengths and areas for improvement.
• Consider the goals that your child could set for the next term. Make a list not only of the goals, but of specific actions that can be taken to achieve these goals. You might want to list actions that your child will take independently as well as action parents will take to support them. For example, if one of the goals your child sets for herself is to improve her writing, her action might be to keep a journal and write in it for at least 10 minutes each night. As a parent, you might decide that the two of you will participate in shared writing, for 30 minutes each week and produce a book of narratives together.
• Consider non-academic strengths and areas for improvement. Set goals and create an action list.
IB News
Self - Study
During the 2026-2027 school year, we will be entering an IB “Self-Study” year. This provides an opportunity for staff to reflect on the components of the IB programme and work on improvements. We are also asking for parent input as part of this process. If you could spare a few minutes to answer our survey, we would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks!
The Link to the survey can be found HERE
SAC updates
Thank you to our amazing SAC members. The school community is grateful for your hard work and support. We look forward to next year!
Healthy Hunger
Thank you to our parent council for continuing their Healthy Hunger lunch days at St. Clement this year! Families who wish to participate can create an account and preorder lunch for their child(ren) on Healthy Hunger Fridays. The ordered items will be distributed to your child(ren) at school for lunch. Healthy Hunger lunches take place on Fridays, and the deadline to order is the Sunday prior to a Friday service. Payment is handled directly via the Healthy Hunger website at the time of order.
Say and Play Boards
Did you know there are more than 40 Say and Play Boards in ECSD-operated playgrounds, including at our school's park? These boards are a bridge between students, helping them communicate, play, and build friendships. They are designed to offer accessible communication for children who are non-speaking, learning to speak, or learning English. All you have to do is POINT – SAY – and PLAY!

Sacraments for Students
Please explore the Sacrament section on your parish's website below:
Pedestrian Safety
Please make safety a priority when walking with your child(ren) to and from school. If your child(ren) walk on their own to school, please share these important reminders with them. While cars are supposed to slow down, not all do unfortunately, and visibility can be poor. Please use marked crosswalks and remember to look both ways! Stay safe Chargers!
Crosswalk Safety
Please drive safely near our crosswalks. Our grade 6 students have started their crossing guard program. Please drive slowly through these areas and help these students out as they learn their roles! We also ask parents to not park in the no stopping areas next to our crosswalks, as this has been creating blind spaces where cars cannot see the pedestrians on the curb. Please prioritize safety!
Important Reminders for Families - Safety and Parking
Ø The turnaround in front of the school is a NO PARKING zone during peak drop-off and pick-up hours of the day. There is no drop off or pick up in the bus zone in front of the school (turnaround).
There is no parking in the turnaround between the hours of 7:30-8:30 am Monday-Friday. Also, 2:30-3:30 pm on regular school days AND 11:30 am -12:30 pm on Thursdays (early dismissal).
Ø The turnaround can be accessed once the buses have left.
Ø Families are asked to keep traffic moving by using the turnaround to STOP, DROP-OFF/PICK-UP and GO (only once the buses have left).
Ø Please avoid parking at the entrance and exit of the turnaround so that buses can have easy access.
Ø For parents and guardians who wish to remain with their child(ren) in the morning, there is parking available across the street and next to the school sidewalk.
Ø Parents are asked to remember that there is no parking in the staff parking lot. Our staff parking lot is completely full, and we ask parents not to park there.
We feel it is important to bring this forward as we work together to assure all students are safe. Thank you for your understanding and patience to ensure that every student is safe to and from school. We are very thankful our school is part of the wonderful community. It is very important to us that we are all good neighbours and show kindness to one another.
Student Water Bottles
Please remember to bring a reusable water bottle to school in order to stay healthy and hydrated throughout the day! Students should please have their water bottles labelled with their names.
Student Pick Up
Parents/Guardians who pick up their children at school are asked to be on time for pick up, and to meet their children at/near their designated doors, in particular for students in younger grades. In cases where an older sibling is the one picking up the child, please have that sibling report to the correct door on time. Children with no one to meet them will be brought to the office. Please let us know if an emergency has caused you to be late. Please communicate with your child's teacher, well in advance, or call the office, if you have changed the plan for pick up on a particular day.
Student Safety Drills
In the weeks ahead, the children and staff will continue to practice fire drills, lock downs and emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all within our school community. Students have done excellent in our fire drills and lockdown drill so far! Please inform your child that these drills can occur, especially to alleviate any anxiety or worries from our younger students.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Reporting Student Absences/Student Attendance/Parent PowerSchool
Regular attendance is directly related to success in school. Please ensure that your child arrives on time so that they can be welcomed into the classroom learning experiences taking place each day. Students who arrive late are asked to report to the office to check in.
Families are required to contact the school if a child is late or absent. Please notify the school office at 780-462-3806 and leave a message if all lines are busy. Parents are also encouraged to download the "School Messenger" app, as attendance can be reported online, directly in the app. Please ensure that any changes to personal information are reported to the office to keep our records up to date. Students who have appointments and must leave the school prior to dismissal are asked to ensure the teacher is informed as well as the office staff.
Records of student achievement, student attendance, lists of fees/fee payment platform, forms, and more, can be found by logging into Parent PowerSchool, here: https://powerschool.ecsd.net/public/

Field Trips
We are happy to announce that several supplementary experiences will be provided to our students across the school year once again. These opportunities enable children to explore the curriculum and deepen their understanding of the world around them beyond the walls of the classroom. Families will be provided with written notification in advance of all field trips. A completed permission slip signed by the parent or guardian needs to be returned before a student may participate in the field trip. Just a friendly reminder, payment needs to be made one business day prior to the field trip through your PowerSchool account. No child will be denied participation in field trip experiences due to lack of funds if the situation is brought to the attention of the principal prior to the scheduled event. Confidentiality will be honoured.
Student Medical Needs
Please ensure you have communicated with the school office about any medical conditions or severe allergies that your child may have. If your child requires medication to be given at school or your child self-administers, a form is required. Please either come into the office or download the document off the school website and fill out a current medical alert form as soon as possible to ensure we have the most up to date information. Please note that a doctor’s signature is required on the form before any medication can be given/taken (self-administered) at school. Should a child become ill while at school, parents or guardians will be notified and asked to pick up their child. Thank you also for keeping your child home if they are unwell. We thank you for ensuring your child's safety and well-being!
