Board Meeting Recap

The RCISD School Board held a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, January 12, 2026.

This Board Meeting Recap includes highlights from Thursday night's meeting.

Each month, students from across Royse City ISD are invited to lead the School Board and guests in the pledges to the United States and Texas. This month’s students represented the National Junior Honor Society from Bobby Summers Middle School, and included Sarah Al Mosuli, Makenna Barrett, Jude Haltom, and Grayson Harris.

RCISD recently held Sciencepalooza, a district science fair filled with the work of our bright young minds. Winners from Sciencepalooza were recognized at the February Board Meeting.

The Stock Market Game, sponsored by The SIFMA Foundation, runs for months with student teams from various campuses competing. We are proud of the problem-solving, creativity, and dedication these students committed to this learning experience.

Taking care of business on the court and in their classrooms, these players are top notch!

Principal Micah Armstrong shared an update with the board spotlighting Summers Middle School's mission to engage, equip, and empower students. Beyond striving for academic excellence, students are encouraged to be involved. At SMS, making sure students are connected ensures they have the opportunities to grow in confidence and develop in leadership. As of February 12, enrollment was 10,265.

RCHS Enrollment as of February 12th is 2,897.

• A decrease of 19 students since January
