Overwhelmed by Comparison

Overwhelmed by Comparison

Comparison is unavoidable. On the one hand, it's how we learn-through mimicry and models. But on the other hand, comparison can spark feelings of inadequacy, envy, and even shame. At the very least, it's vital to learn to be vigilant and reflective when we find ourselves comparing to others.

These Are the Things That Should Send Red Flags When You're on a College Campus Tour

Taking a college campus tour of any school your student is interested in can be critical. While a tour seems like it would be a lovely experience, that is sometimes far from the case.

College Bound Juniors: Consider Registering for the ACT/SAT Exams

Please click here for SAT/ACT information and test dates. Please note that CSU/UC universities are no longer using ACT/SAT test scores for admissions purposes. In fact, nearly 80% of US colleges do not require them. However, some universities may require one of these exams, or they may have a test-optional policy, which means an excellent score can add value to an application. They may also be required by specific programs or scholarships. Fairtest.org has put together a list of test optional and test free colleges.

Apply for Financial Aid by May 2nd!

All seniors need to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or CADAA (California Dream Act Application) whether you are heading to community college, a vocational or trade school, a four-year university, or even if you are not quite sure yet. The government began processing applications and sending information to colleges last month. Students should start receiving their FAFSA Submission Summary (formerly known as Student Aid Report) as applications are being processed. Once a student’s application is processed and they receive their FAFSA Submission Summary, they can log in to make any corrections or submit any missing signatures. The state of California extended the CalGrant deadline to May 2nd. Below are some helpful resources.
