Powers Elementary-Weekly Newsletter

May 5-9
Hi Powers Families...
We wish our 2nd graders the best of luck as they take on CoGat, MAP, and Acadience assessments in the coming weeks. Each grade level is in the midst of year-end benchmark assessments. We are proud of the growth that students have made and can't wait to get these updated results. Please encourage students to simply try their best.
Thanks to everyone that attended the summer activity fair last week and to those that have come in for Reading Cafe's in kindergarten. Our students love to show off their growth and learned skills. We are also appreciative of the PTO and our parents that signed up for the Field Day lottery. The PTO will be reaching out to the winners this week. Your willingness to show up in support of our students says a lot about our community. Thank you.
Have a great weekend.

School Lunch Fees
As you can imagine, when Pay School stopped generating notifications to families about their accounts for a couple of weeks we experienced a significant increase in student lunch account fees. Please check your child's account balance so that we can get any fees taken care of before the end of the year. Thanks. Parents can go to www.payschoolscentral.com to check their child's account balance and add funds as needed.
PBIS ‘Finish Strong’ Assembly! at AJH
This week, students at Powers will walk to AJH for a short PBIS Assembly with their teachers and grade level to motivate all of our students to finish the year strong using their Super Powers! Students are excited to go to the 'big kid' school and teachers are excited to encourage students to make positive choices! Powers has worked collaboratively with AJH to make this experience happen! 3rd Graders and 2nd Graders will be walking to AJH on May 5, 1st Graders will be walking to May 6 and Kindergartners will be walking May 8!

Thanks for your support and appreciation for our teachers and staff. Our amazing PTO and our administration team are creating lots of events throughout the week to make sure teachers know how grateful we are for their work with our students.
Special Abilities Spirit Week
In connection with staff appreciation and the Special Olympics that take place next Friday, we are encouraging students to dress up each day. See the attached flyer. Students are encouraged to dress in recognition and support for a different group of students each day.
