Office Updates
Visitor? Volunteer?
Please bring your driver's license when you are volunteering or visiting. Our new security system (Verkada) allows us to print badges for adults who are volunteering or visiting.
Leaving Early?
If you are picking your child up early (especially if they are in Kindergarten) please let the classroom teachers know or call the office ahead of time. This allows staff to make sure students have their belongings and are ready to leave.
ParentVue Updated?
Please keep phone numbers, emergency contacts and their phone numbers up to date in ParentVue.
From our Counselor-Mrs. Walke
Personal Safety & Child Abuse Prevention
During this school year, I will be talking with students about personal safety. The purpose of the lesson is to encourage children to talk to trusted adults (parents, teachers, etc.) if they have concerns about safety. If you would like to preview the materials used, they are available in the counseling office. Also feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Small Group Opportunity
As a school counselor, I offer small groups where students work with others who may be dealing with similar life issues. These groups focus on topics such as grief, changing families (divorce or separation), social skills, feelings, friendship, etc. Participation in small groups will happen as students are identified and referred by their classroom teacher, parent or guardian, or by a personal request. Small group activities for students will happen during a time that is least disruptive to classroom learning with parent permission. I believe that small group workshops can be a powerful way for students to connect and share similar experiences in a safe environment. These groups will run as needed and as time allows. If you believe your student's social, emotional, or academic success is being impacted at school and could benefit from a small group, please reach out to me or their teacher.
Heavenly Hats
We are going to continue the tradition of Heavenly Hat Day this year on Thursday, October 30th.
How it works is that every student and teacher who would like to be involved would donate a $1.00 (or more) for the privilege of wearing their favorite hat to school for the day. This is usually very exciting for the students as hats are normally not allowed in school.
All of the proceeds from this event will go to the Heavenly Hat Foundation, https://heavenlyhats.org/. The Heavenly Hat Foundation collects and distributes brand new hats for all kinds of heroes of all ages who lose their hair due to the treatment of cancer or the many other medical conditions which may cause hair loss.
Thank you for supporting such a great cause!
