Kindergarten registration will be open for online applications starting on Monday, December 7th for the 2021-2022 school year! To be eligible for Kindergarten, students must be 5 years old on or before September 1st, 2021. We recommend registering early! Thank you to everyone for your patience during afternoon pick-up with the transition to all in. We know the parking lot is crammed and the wait is longer than usual to get out of the lot. Please always be vigilant and follow directions for the continued safety of everyone.

Early dismissals: Please try to schedule appointments for outside school hours, but if you must pick up your child for early dismissal we recommend you do so no later than 2:30 pm so your vehicle is not blocked in the parking lot by parents lining up for dismissal.

Don't forget! Please make sure to do the following:

• Send your child in with a water bottle daily
• Send your child with a coat and hat/gloves for recess/gym
• Label your child's belongings
• Make sure their devices are charged and in their backpack

Third grade authors have been hard at work writing personal narratives about a small moment in their life. Authors have developed characters, described the setting, and have added many descriptive details using figurative language and sensory details. Authors are currently revising and editing their personal narratives in order to make their writing the best it can be. Ask your third grade author to share their final narrative with you. You will be so proud!

Ms. Atwater grew up in NJ and recently moved to Newtown. She has a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Rutgers University. Sage is passionate about green education and sustainability. She also enjoys baking, reading and scrapbooking in her spare time. Sage is very excited to be a new addition to the Tawanka community.

This week K-4 learned about the art element COLOR! Each grade created their own color wheel. We learned about the primary and secondary colors.

Students will be going outside for gym class as much as possible, please remember to send them with hats, gloves and coats.

Students are learning /practicing hurdling during gym class this week. They are also running races around the track.

December 10th - 2nd, 3rd & 4th grades
