"Encourage one another and build each other up ..."

1 Thessalonians 5:11

What an awesome Halloween week we've had! A huge thank you to our room moms, and other parents, who put on such a fun Halloween party for the class! The class had so much fun today, and I wish you all super fun and safe Halloween weekend!

In Reading this week, we are reading realistic fiction texts, with an emphasis on culture and trying new things. We read a story called "They Don't Mean It," where we saw that communication among different cultural groups can be misinterpreted. The reading assessment next week will be on this selection. We are also making great progress on our November book reports, and some are already hanging up in the classroom. Please come check them out. This month, students turned a book into a movie poster! In Math, we are continuing to make progress with division. Division is really tricky, and we are learning multiple methods we can use to divide larger numbers. We have been working on the algorithmic method of long division, which can be long and tedious. Lots of practice makes this much easier, so we've been practicing a lot this week! Ask your student what their preferred method is! In Science, we started a new unit on ecosystems and food webs. It's a great unit that shows how we are all tied together! Next week, in Religion, we will begin our Keep Christ in Christmas posters.

UCSB Chemistry Lab

We have our first field trip coming up on Thursday, November 20. We will be leaving shortly after morning assembly, and return before lunch. There are permission slips and waivers in the Friday Folder today from UCSB. Please sign and return these in the Friday Folder.

Students should bring two very shiny pennies. They will be using these in one of their experiments.

UCSB does have a dress code for all those in the Chemistry Lab. Please have students wear long sleeves under their spirit shirts, along with pants, close toed shoes, and hair must be pulled back.
