Hello from Principal Guditus
Hello Eddy Families,
I hope that you had a lovely weekend and were able to enjoy some beautiful weather today! Fall is certainly upon us, and as such, we are celebrating with some pumpkins this month. Mrs. Lister is holding an optional literary pumpkin display (see the flyer below for more information), and we hope you will consider participating! Additionally, we will again hold our annual pumpkin decorating contest. Each grade level classroom will receive one pumpkin, and they are challenged to decorate a pumpkin with this year's theme: 🎃Pumpkins That Make the World a Better Place!🎃
Fall Conferences are this Thursday evening (10/22) and Friday afternoon (10/23). You should have received a signup directly from your student's grade-level classroom teacher. Please reach out to your student's teacher if you have any questions about signing up for this. Friday is an early release at 11:00am to accommodate these parent/caregiver-teacher conferences. The Brewster PTO is organizing food for staff during conferences this week on Thursday and Friday (Thank you PTO!). The PTO has organized an Amazon wishlist for items to provide to staff during teacher conferences. If you would like to contribute towards these items, you may click on this link, and the items will be shipped directly to school to help provide refreshments to staff. The PTO is also happy to take any packaged items or fruit that folks may already have on hand and can be dropped off at Stony Brook or Eddy. If you have any questions about this, please contact the Brewster PTO at brewsterpto@gmail.com.
Starting this month, the elementary schools across Nauset will begin including health classes as part of physical education class, taught by our PE teacher Ms. Teevens. We will experiment with how the schedule will roll out and made edits to the schedule as needed. Students currently have two PE classes per week, and each grade will have three health units taught throughout the year. When students have a health unit, they will have one PE class during the week and the second PE class will be a health lesson. These health units typically will last for approximately six weeks at a time, and there will be approximately a fall health unit, a winter health unit, and a spring health unit. Our Assistant Superintendent, Vicky Saldana, has been working closely with the Nauset elementary school PE teachers around developing these health curriculum units. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please reach out directly to me. Health units in grades are as follows:
- Grade 3: goal setting for well-being, conflict resolution and bullying, and decision-making for positive health outcomes
- Grade 4: What influences me?, managing my mental health, and puberty (this has previously been taught by Nurse Miller in fourth grade)
- Grade 5: food literacy, substance use, and digital wellness
We are thrilled to welcome Katy Boucher to Eddy (and Stony Brook) on Wednesday, October 21, as Katy presents, Neurodiversity at Eddy Elementary School. This connects directly to our core values of respect and empathy, as students will understand the different ways that students learn, and celebrating these differences. I will email follow up questions from katy on Wednesday for you to discuss with your student if you would like to further the conversation at home. You can see more about the presentation below.
We will have a COLOR SPIRIT DAY on Wednesday, 10/21/26. Wear your favorite color or colors!
Our Brewster Elementary PreK-5 STEM Night will be on Wednesday, 11/4/26 from 5:00-6:15pm at Eddy Elementary (this is open to all students from Stony Brook and Eddy). This is inclusive of all Brewster students in grades PreK-5 and their families. You are encouraged to stay for some or all of this fun night, where students will play games and rotate through classroom stations to engage students in STEM (science, tech, engineering, and math) activities. There will be games, prizes, and giveaways! We thank Mrs. Evans for all her help organizing this event, the Cape Cod Regional STEM Network for their support and donations, and to Cape Cod Five for their financial support. All students from Stony Brook and Eddy are welcome: please bring siblings, parents, caregivers, grandparents, and friends!
Here's to a great week of learning at Eddy Elementary School!
Best

Upcoming Assembly 10/21
On Wednesday, October 21, we will have an all-school assembly, Celebrating Neurodiversity at Eddy Elementary School. Katy Boucher is our speaker, who works at The Accord School in Norwell, MA. This program is a gift from The Kit and Jerry’s Foundation for Good, an organization established by the daughters of Kit and Jerry Boucher, who died in a tragic accident at First Encounter Beach in February, 2026. The foundation was set up in their memory to support community-based initiatives and to spread happiness and joy. Katy is one of the founders of the foundation, and has generously donated her time and energy to spread empathy and help our students learn about differences.
Katy's presentation to Eddy students will be an interactive assembly format. Through relatable videos from middle schoolers and an exploration of Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, students will discover the many unique ways we all think, play, and learn. They will leave with a deeper understanding of empathy, fairness, and inclusion. Families can learn more about Katy’s assembly by exploring her website. After the assembly, parents and caregivers can keep the conversation going at home with this quick online guide for families designed by Katy.
We are excited to have this conversation and help students continue to develop empathy by learning more about howe we all learn differently!
