CLINIC NOTES
Clinic News
Welcome back, Highlanders! We are excited to kick off another great school year and have been busy getting the clinic ready to welcome our students. We look forward to partnering with you to keep everyone healthy and safe this year.
Your School Nurses
● Senior Campus: Alana Ansley aransley@conroeisd.net | 936-709-1076
● Ninth Grade Campus: Allison Weaver arweaver@conroeisd.net | 832-592-8209
Our clinics are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.
---
Parent Consent for Clinic Care
Texas law requires parents to provide written consent for school staff to care for students during the school day. This includes routine clinic services such as taking temperatures, applying bandages, administering medications that have been checked into the clinic, and completing required hearing and vision screenings.
This consent is completed during your student's annual online enrollment. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the clinic.
---
Immunization Reminders
As enrollment is finalized, families of students with overdue immunizations or expiring Conscientious Objector exemptions will receive an email from the clinic.
Please take care of any missing immunizations as soon as possible to avoid your student being withdrawn from school.
---
Medication Check-In
If your student needs medication while on campus:
● A parent or guardian must bring the medication to the clinic or athletic trainers.
● Students may not transport medication to or from school.
● Medications must be in the original labeled container, unexpired, and limited to a 30-day supply.
---
Students with Chronic Medical Conditions
If your student has asthma, severe allergies, diabetes, seizures, or another chronic medical condition, a new physician-signed action plan is required each school year.
Students are encouraged to self-carry EpiPens and inhalers when appropriate. A completed Medication Self-Carry form must also be on file in the clinic.
Required health forms can be found on the Conroe ISD Health Services webpage.
---
Medical Phone Accommodations
If your student must access a phone during the school day for a medical reason, such as monitoring blood glucose levels or a pacemaker, please provide current physician orders to the clinic. We will notify staff of the approved medical accommodation.
Thank you for helping us prepare for a healthy and successful school year. We are excited to partner with your family and look forward to serving our Highlanders!
SCHOOL NEWS
🗺️ MAP Growth: Knowing Where We Are and Where We Can Go
Dear Parents and Students,
Over the next two weeks, students in English 1, 2 & 3, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, and Biology will take the NWEA MAP Growth assessment. 📚💻
MAP Growth is more than "another test" — it's a diagnostic tool that shows where each student is academically and what they're ready to learn next. This is our first year giving it at the high school level, following other grade levels across the district.
🎯 What It Tells Us
The test is computer-adaptive, so questions adjust to each student's responses. Results help teachers identify strengths and gaps, differentiate instruction, provide intervention or enrichment, monitor growth, and set goals with students. Instead of asking "Did I pass?", MAP Growth helps us ask, "Where am I now, how much have I grown, and what's next?" 📈
🌟 Effort Matters
MAP results are only as useful as the effort behind them. Please encourage your student to take their time, do their best, and approach the assessment with a positive attitude. 💯
📅 Students absent on their testing day will make up the assessment during their next class period.
Thank you for partnering with us! 🗺️📈
Student Parking
Tags will be distributed during lunches on the first week of school.
After the first week of school, parking tag pick up will be in the Grade Level Office after school until 3pm.
Any students who have been assigned parking and have not picked up their tag by September 1 will forfeit their spot to another student on the waitlist.
TWHS Library
This year the library is going almost completely cashless. All students will have a $2.00 Library Service Fee on their School Cash Online accounts. This fee will cover black and white printing (within reason) in the library. Color prints will still be .50 cents per page and can be paid with cash or a fee will be added to School Cash Online..
Family Support Through The Welcome Center
We would like to inform you that the Welcome Center, led by Iytzia Cárdenas, has now been relocated to the Jett Center. However, she continues to visit our campus some days a week, mainly when she has scheduled appointments with families.
SMART TAG ID REPLACEMENT: If your student has lost their school ID, they may purchase a new one through School Cash Online. This item is available to all students under Smart Tag ID Replacement Fee.
SCHOOL CASH ONLINE: Please be sure to check your child's School Cash Online account frequently. The website is www.conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com. Fees are added throughout the year for various activities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fees charged to your child, please contact the classroom teacher or club sponsor. Failure to pay fees listed as "required" or "overdue" may result in a student not being permitted to participate in some extracurricular activities. If you need assistance logging in to School Cash Online or adding and viewing your child's account, please visit schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support and view the resources available to help.
