National Honor Society Gets Involved National Honor Society Gets Involved

National Honor Society members have been busy this spring. They recently served meals and left groceries at Our Father's Kitchen for people in need. Members enjoyed leaving positive notes on bags and serving others in our community.

Members also brought in items to show appreciation for the staff of CMHS during teacher and staff appreciation week. They gave buckets of treats to the cafeteria staff, bus drivers, custodians, teachers, aides, and office staff.

NHS members also participated in Magnified Giving this year. Magnified Giving is an organization, founded by Roger Grein, that teaches students the importance of philanthropy. Mr. Grein's philosophy is that everyone has something to give, whether that be their talent, their time, or their treasure. Magnified Giving promotes philanthropy by giving a grant of $1,000 to a nonprofit of our choice. The students were divided into four sub-committees and visited separate nonprofits, then voted on our top choices as an organization.

The first non-profit that was granted $ 500 was the Clinton County Homeless Shelter is centered in Wilmington. They are a place to call home for anyone in need, no matter their situation, race, gender, identity, or creed. They provide services for any individual or family that is struggling financially. The Clinton County Homeless Shelter goes above and beyond every day to help our community in the most caring ways possible.

The second non-profit that was granted $1,000 is the Clinton- Massie Local Schools foundation. With the funds awarded, the members plan to establish a resource that elementary school teachers can use to support their specials programs. This initiative will function as a grant, allowing teachers to apply for needed materials, such as art supplies, gym equipment, and music tools. Once approved, the requested items will be purchased to help enrich students’ learning experiences in these important areas.

This year the National Honor Society members served over 1250 hours in their school and community. They helped in their churches, aided in classrooms, translated for a little girl, helped at the school food & clothes pantry, helped with voting, volunteered at the humane society and libraries, laid wreaths at the cemetery for veterans, helped with recycling in the HS & MS, and worked on Eagle Scout projects. How exciting it is to have these young people in our community representing CMHS so well! Thank you, members! We are proud of you!

CMHS - Purple Star School Renewal CMHS - Purple Star School Renewal

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has renewed the Clinton-Massie High School’s designation as a Purple Star School for the Class of 2025. Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board established strict criteria that schools must meet to be considered for a Purple Star designation. Clinton-Massie HS has successfully met these standards and the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce applauds and appreciates your unwavering commitment to serving military-connected students and families.

Ohio’s military-connected youth require supports that consider their unique wellness and academic

needs, especially while navigating school transitions. The Purple Star award signifies our school’s

demonstrated commitment to serving these students and families.

25/26 CCP Application & Placement Testing Reminder 25/26 CCP Application & Placement Testing Reminder

Any student who is planning to take CCP at CMHS (with our teachers in the building) must have their Sinclair application and placement testing completed by June 1. After that date, students may still participate in CCP, but they will have to take classes at a campus or online. Typically it takes 1-2 weeks for Sinclair to process applications, so apply ASAP. If you have any questions, see Ms. Beres or Ms. Sercu.
