MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Lindblom students, families, and community,
A huge shout-out to our students for sharing feedback in the latest Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) survey! We are proud to report significant growth across all five Cues and Conditions of Belonging for students in advanced courses, based on our 2024-25 data compared with preliminary 2025-26 results. Our commitment to equity is also reflected in a strong 89% minimum completion rate for the 4-year cohort that began with our current admin team! We grew across all five domains compared to last year. Here are a few highlights:
- Classroom Community: Increased from 68% to 76% (+8 points) in student comfort asking for help and feeling like part of the community.
Culturally Relevant Curriculum: Grew from 59% to 66% (+7 points), showing that assignments effectively help students express personal identity.
Expectations, Feedback, and Assessment: Improved from 72% to 75% (+ 3 points) in students reporting a greater sense of fairness and opportunity to learn from mistakes.
We are proud that our highest-scoring area, Culturally Relevant Teaching, grew from 76% to 80%. Conversations about Race increased by 1 percentage point to 67%. This data is a testament to our collective hard work and intentional shifts around our school-wide focus on competency-based education and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching. The data also sheds light on an opportunity to continue growing by strengthening culturally relevant practices, enhancing teacher efficacy, and activating students' agency to engage in conversations about race and culture in ways that are affirming and productive.
This data is a testament to our collective hard work and intentional shifts around our school-wide focus on competency-based education and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching.
Together we rise, onward and upward.

Thank you for showing an interest in the CyberSecure Teens program at Lindblom.
For those who were unable to attend our recent information session, here is a brief overview of what was shared:
What is CyberSecure Teens?
CyberSecure Teens is a hands-on, after-school cybersecurity and emerging technology program being offered in partnership with Intergenerational Computer Education (IgCE), founded by instructor Michael Bass.
The goal of the program is to:
Teach students how to protect themselves and others online
Introduce them to ethical hacking, networking, and digital safety
Expose them to real career paths in cybersecurity and technology
What Did We Go Over in the Session?
During the presentation, we discussed:
Program Focus
Cybersecurity basics (passwords, phishing, protecting personal data)
Ethical hacking concepts and how “good hackers” help secure systems
How networks, servers, and devices communicate
Emerging technologies like AI, smart home devices, and IoT
What jobs will no longer exist due to the introduction of AI and what we can do about it
What Students Will Be Doing
Working in computer labs on guided hands-on activities
Participating in challenges and labs that simulate real cyber scenarios
Learning how to think like a defender, not just a user of technology
Long-Term Benefits
Early exposure to one of the fastest-growing, high-paying career fields
Development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
Hands on resume building opportunities
Opportunity to work toward industry-recognized certificates (through IgCE’s partnership with ISACA) that can strengthen college and job applications

We will be holding one last information session for any parents and students who were not able to attend the first one:
Date: Tuesday, January 13th
