St Anthony's School News

Week 7 - Thursday 27th November 2025
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Principal's Message
We have come to the end of the Church Liturgical year with the celebration of the Solemnity of Christ the King last weekend.
As we head into the final weeks of school for students, please remember the following important school events:
SMART WATCHES and MOBILE PHONES
It seems that younger and younger children are now wearing smart watches to school. We even have children in Pre-Primary who cannot tell the time but are wearing smart watches to school. This is a reminder that if the only watch your child has is a smart watch, then the watch needs to be handed in to the office first thing in the morning and then collected from the office at the end of the day. The children have iPads to use during the day when internet access that is integral to their learning is required. They do not need and should not be using their watch to access the internet during the school day. We thank you for your support regarding your child’s use of their smart watch.
UNIFORM SHOP
With the retirement of Gabrielle from the uniform shop, we will now be outsourcing the sale of uniforms as of January 2026. Jenny Franklin will now be our supplier through a shop called Uniform Concepts in Joondalup. More information to follow in the next newsletter. Uniforms will still be available at school up until the end of Week 9 2025.
SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL and P&F ACMs
Thank you to all those who took time out of their busy schedules to attend Tuesday night’s ACMs. These are an important part of both groups reporting back to the community about the activities undertaken during the year.
I would like to thank the members of the Advisory Council for their guidance throughout the year. I especially acknowledge Simon O’Leary, Megan Walker, Eleanor Chappell and Paige Griffiths who have served the Council faithfully all year; Eleanor Chappell who has represented the P&F on the Council and Fr Leonard and Jenny Rae as the St Anthony’s Parish representatives.
Congratulations to Simon O’Leary and Megan Walker who have both been re-elected to the Council and to Paige Griffiths and Nicole Hurlbatt who have also been elected to the Council.
Congratulations to our groundsman, Hayden Wallis, who won this year’s ACM lucky door prize.
Important fees information from the Advisory Council report on the 2026 Budget include:
PRE-KINDERGARTEN (3YO)
Running 2 sessions a week from the beginning of the year at a cost of $75 per day.
KINDERGARTEN TO YEAR 6
To continue our support of the school community there has been an increase of 4.4% to fees for 2026, lower than the increase recommended by CEWA.
Booklists have again been added to the school fees but as a separate line for 2026. Please refer to the table below for the 2026 fees.
P&F ACM
To the P&F Executive: Eleanor Chappell, Dee O’Leary and Paige Griffiths and the many class representatives and volunteers who formed working groups and/or volunteered time to assist with P&F activities and fundraising; thank you for the many hours of hard work you have put into ensuring each event ran smoothly and for the fun activities you planned for the children.
Congratulations to Dee O’Leary who has been re-elected to the P&F Committee. The P&F are still looking for a volunteer for the position of Secretary. If you can spare the time to meet for an hour twice a term, please contact Eleanor Chappell or call the office and we will pass the message on.

SPORT NEWS
St Anthony’s Clean Up at SSWA & WA All Schools Track & Field!
St Anthony’s athletes have had an incredible fortnight on the track and field, showcasing their talent, determination and sportsmanship at the SSWA Primary School Track & Field Championships and the 2025 WA All Schools Championships.
Kayla Weston (Year 5) put in an outstanding performance, running a personal best and securing bronze in the 1500m. She also threw exceptionally well in the turbo javelin, earning another bronze medal.
Ethan Ojogwu (Year 5) dominated the middle-distance events, winning Gold in the 1500m and backing it up with a Silver medal in the 800m—a brilliant achievement.
Aily Ojogwu (Year 3) took on older competitors in the Year 4 turbo javelin and still came away with a fantastic Bronze medal, showing great promise for the future.
Meanwhile, Jesse Biney (Year 6) represented St Anthony’s superbly at the 2025 WA All Schools Championships, competing in multiple events and achieving new personal bests. His results were:
100m (U14 – Heats): 13.46 – PB
Shot Put (U14 – Final): 6.32 – PB
Jesse caught up with former St Anthony's student Chase Mannella, who continues to excel in athletics, achieving a PB in the 200m.
A huge congratulations to all our athletes—you continue to make our school proud with your effort, attitude, and achievements! 🌟🏅
🎾🏏🏐 2025 Summer Carnival – Cricket, Tennis & Indoor Beach Volleyball
Students from Year 6 and a group of selected Year 5 students proudly represented St Anthony’s at the 2025 Summer Carnival, competing across cricket, tennis and indoor beach volleyball.
Our students displayed outstanding behaviour all day, playing with excellent sportsmanship and giving their best effort in every game. Many children showed huge improvement throughout the day, with some even learning new skills in sports they had only recently been introduced to at school.
All teams performed exceptionally well:
Tennis: Our tennis players competed across two pools, finishing as Runners-Up Champion School in one pool and Champion School in the other—an amazing achievement!
Boys Cricket: A strong performance with 3 wins and 1 loss, showcasing great teamwork and consistency.
Girls Cricket: Undefeated, demonstrating determination and excellent cricket skills.
Boys Indoor Beach Volleyball: Also undefeated, playing confidently and cohesively throughout the carnival.
Girls Indoor Beach Volleyball: Showed fantastic teamwork, enthusiasm and resilience, improving with every match and supporting each other right to the end.
A big congratulations to all students who participated—you represented St Anthony’s beautifully and should be proud of your efforts!
Little Learners Program – Welcoming Our 2026 Kindy Students
Over the past four weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming some of our new Kindergarten 2026 students into our Little Learners program. This program is thoughtfully designed to support a smooth and positive transition into school life. Throughout their sessions, the children have been developing important kindergarten-readiness skills, learning about classroom routines, and becoming familiar with the Kindy environment.
We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our newest learners and look forward to supporting them as they continue their journey towards starting Kindergarten in 2026.
