WHAT IS UNIFIED BASKETBALL

Unified Basketball will start on Monday, March 25th. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age.

UNIFIED BASKETBALL INTRODUCTORY MEETING:

To find out more information and to meet the coaches on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 6:00 pm Middle School Cafeteria.

MIDDLE SCHOOL - Practice will be one day a week at the middle school gym or the middle school outdoor courts depending on the weather. Practice will meet in the cafeteria right after school for a snack and homework. Unified Basketball practice will start at 3:15 and go approximately 1 hour. There will be one game per week

  • Practice and game information will be available on our Athletic Webpage
    • WATERTOWN ATHLETICS.
  • Games can also be found on Arbiterlive with this
    • WATERTOWN GAMES

HOW TO REGISTER:

Please complete the registration in FamilyID ASAP. All students participating in Unifield Basketball MUST be registered in FamilyID and have a in-person physical dated within the last 13 months that clears the student to participate in competitive sports.Follow the link below to be directed to the Athletics Registration Form. LINK: FY24 SPRING UNIFIED

TRANSPORTATION:

Students will receive transportation to all away games.

ATHLETIC FEES:

  • ALL ATHLETIC FEES ARE DUE AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.
  • If your student has already played in a sport this year, you will have already met you commitment to athletic fees. Otherwise, the fee structure is a s follows:.
  • $50. for the season.

STUDENT PHYSICALS:

All student-athletes must have a current physical on file. The MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association that governs school sports) requires that the student have seen a doctor in-person visit within the last 13 months and must contain a section that says the student may participate in school sports with no restrictions (or with the following restrictions).

NO STUDENT CAN PARTICIPATE IN ANY PRACTICES OR CONTESTS WITHOUT THIS.

Due to the availability of school nurses, we STRONGLY SUGGEST that ALL registrants attach their current physical even if you think you have already submitted it. This will allow the school nurses to approve registrations remotely, therefore clearing students to start on the first day of their sport.

If your student's physical has expired and you cannot get an appointment with your pediatrician, CVS MinuteClinic at 189 Watertown St, Watertown, MA 02472 does a low-cost student sports physical.
