MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS COMMUNITY,
It was a great week! A cooler week highlighted by the Senior Sunrise (pic above) and students enjoying a day off while our teachers were engaged in professional development.
Important Reminders
To help with traffic flow and safety, please be aware of the following reminders:
All Athletes/After School Programs: When you return to school for after-school practice/meetings, do not park in the spots directly around the building. You must park in the student lot to avoid causing additional congestion during a high-traffic time.
Parking Passes: All cars parked in the student lot must have a 2025-26 parking pass displayed in the window.
Parking Boundaries: All cars must be parked inside the yellow parking pillars. The first two rows of the student lot are reserved for Senior Mentors and parking passes in this are must be between the numbers 1-40.
Parking Enforcement: We're excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Rob Kaiser as our new Campus Security and Parking Lot Supervisor. Moving forward, student-specific "tickets/citations" will be issued for illegally parked cars or vehicles without a pass displayed.
Good luck to all students showing or participating in the Geauga County Fair!
GIFTED IDENTIFICATION
Students in grade 8 will participate in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment three times this year, with the fall administration scheduled for September 17th and 24th. The MAP assessment is a valuable tool that helps educators better understand each student’s instructional needs and academic strengths.
In addition to guiding classroom instruction, the MAP assessment is an approved screening tool for potential gifted identification in the specific academic areas of Math and Reading for students in grades 2 through 10. Parents of students who meet the criteria for gifted identification based on this assessment will be notified via email.
Enjoy your extended weekend!
Mr. Tomco
FEEDBACK FROM ONE OF OUR COACHES
While reviewing the lineup with coaches this evening, it was brought to our attention that one of their players is autistic.
We were informed this player's parents and teacher would be nearby should they require any assistance.
Our JV player, played against her in a singles match and lost 2-4. At the close of the match, we discussed what occurred, including strengths and weaknesses. We were informed that the opponent was not making accurate line calls. Our player indicated, "It's okay, it doesn't matter, it was fun to play with her."
We were so impressed with the maturity, kindness, and humanitarian values, caring about her opponent's feelings was more important to her than winning the tennis match.
Truly, this was a more important "win" than tennis could ever provide.
Just wanted to pass this along to you.

EARLY BIRD TICKETS END SOON SEPTEMBER 01
The Boosters are excited to share that we are having a brand new all-sport fundraiser this year. On October 4th, we will be All in for Athletics! Tickets are on sale now at https://omella.com/uygyy . Please join us for a night promising fun, school spirit and camaraderie with other Hilltopper Sports Fans.
The boosters raise anywhere between $30,000-50,000 in any given year mainly through events like this, sponsorships, and spirit wear sales. That money goes directly back to your athletes in uniforms, technology, the athletics website, senior banners, and more. Last year the boosters were able to provide new uniforms for CMS Girls and Boys Basketball and CHS Football, Boys Lacrosse, and Girls Basketball. This year we have already purchased new uniforms for CHS Girls Tennis, Boys Basketball and will be soon buying for the Gymnastics Team. These uniforms cost anywhere from $2000 for a small team upwards of $10,000 for our larger teams.

- Fall Concession Co-Chair(s)

There will be many planning committee chair slots to fill. Sign-ups to help out the weekend of the event will be posted in April. Stay tuned for more info.
We'd love for you to join us at our kick-off meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7pm at CHS (tentative location: CHS Media Center). Monthly meetings will be at 7pm on the second Tuesday of each month Sept thru March, with no meeting in December. After Prom event planning workshops will begin in April.
