Counselor's Corner

Can you believe it is already September? The first few weeks of school have flown by! Ms. Varnado and Ms. Brown have been working hard at building relationships with all the students. This month we will kick start the year with our character building lessons across campus. Have you heard of Bronco of the Month? Each month we will focus on a character trait and invite each teacher to recognize a student in their class who faithfully demonstrated the trait in class, and with others. Then, at the end of the month, we will have a Zoom Celebration where we invite the parents and guardians to login and celebrate with us. The character trait of the month for September is Respect. Respect is acting in a way that shows you care about the other people’s feelings and well-being. We invite you to look for ways to honor your child when you notice how respectful your child is when at the store, restaurant, at home with friends and siblings, and even with pets. On that note, we look forward to seeing you at our Freedom Walk, Monday, September 11 at 8:00. We will be taking the time to honor First Responders and members of the Armed Force for the sacrifices they continue to make.

Brookhaven's Early Literacy Program

Little Broncos.

The Little Bronco Program offers exciting lessons that promote reading and writing growth. We are here to focus on the development of children's emergent literacy. We introduce social skills, hands on activities, and make crafts based on our reading activities. We support parents and students working together. We provide students with rigorous content and skills needed to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The program is consistent with our principal Ms. Whitelow’s vision for our students. We want to continue growth, teach children how -to walk-in line, and how to work in centers. At the end of year, we take field trips to P.E/Music so that your child knows what it is like to be a Bronco!

If you would like more information about our program, please call or email Mrs. Mercer parent Liaison. 254-336-6460 or 254-336-1440 jamikka.waremercer@killeenisd.org

We will Meet on Thursdays starting September 14th ,2023 from 12p.m. – 1p.m.
