Bronco Bulletin

A Note from the Principal
Dear Brosnahan Parents & Families,
October is around the corner and the learning and growth of our students is in full swing. Our staff is fully invested in the academic, behavioral and social success of all of our broncos! Tutoring and clubs will begin soon so that students have the opportunity for extended learning and enrichment. We believe in growing the whole child, and we are dedicated to this belief.
With that being said, we encourage all of our broncos to be in attendance every day unless they are sick. Attendance matters! When your child misses school, they miss 7 hours of instruction. Multiply each day they miss by 7 and that is the number of hours they are missing. This also includes arriving late and leaving early. When they arrive late, they are missing the same content each time. Again, instructional time is lost. When they leave early, they are missing the same content each time. Last Friday, we had 59 early check-outs. This is excessive. Of course, we know that emergency situations happen or appointments come up, but we highly encourage your student to be here every day, all day. We need your partnership in our attendance incentive.
We love our families and your continuous support. We are the best school in CFISD because of our partnership in learning.
Happy October!

Nurse's Note
Good morning Bronco family,
We have entered into that time of year again where there is an influx of flu, colds, COVID and stomach bugs. To keep our students and staff healthy and safe please adhere to the CFISD Health Service Policy regarding sick children which can be found below. Proper cough/sneeze and hand hygiene are imperative to germ control. Please review these techniques with your students at home to help keep them healthy.
Extra clothes have been needed for bathroom accidents, lunch spills, feminine hygiene emergencies and illness/injuries. To cut down on missed instructional time please ensure your student has an extra pair of clothes in their backpack as the clinic has run out of extra clothes.
Please be aware of the following guidelines for school attendance.
- Fever: A child must remain home with fever equal to or > 100° F and may only return after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.
- Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and/or vomiting must stay at home and may return to school only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Following a diagnosis of pink eye, a child may return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescribed medication has been administered.
- Rashes: Common infectious diseases with rashes are most contagious in the early stages. A child with a suspicious rash must stay at home and may return to school after a health care provider has made a diagnosis and authorizes the child's return to school in writing or symptoms have resolved completely.
- Head lice (pediculosis): Students who have an active case of live lice may attend school only after treatment which eliminates all live lice. Head lice do not jump or fly and are most commonly contracted by head-to-head touch. Head lice are common in school-aged children, so parents should routinely monitor children for live lice and teach the avoidance of behaviors that spread lice.

Parent Lunch Sign Up
Please make sure you are only signing up for two lunches a month to eat with your student. We do our best to monitor this, but we also depend on our families to make sure all of our Broncos have the same opportunity to eat with their families. When you sign up, you only need to select one slot even if two parents are coming. One slot reserves a spot for 1 student + 2 visitors, and as always don't forget to bring your physical I.D. when you come to have lunch with your student!
Family Game Night
RSVP forms will come home in your student's Tuesday folder on October 15th. You only need to turn in one RSVP per family, but please list all the students attending on that one form.
