Special Friday Release Dates and Times for the 2024-2025 School Year

Our Spring Sing is Next Week! Our Spring Sing is Next Week!

Our Spring Sing events are on Monday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 8th. You should've received an invitation with your child's specific concert time from your child's teacher. Our mini concerts will be staggered throughout the two days so that each group can perform. You can attend our PTA Bookfair before your child's concert or after, depending on your child's concert time.

Tips for a successful experience:

  • Based on your child's concert time, your child's teacher will let you know which of our exterior doors to enter.
  • Parking will be full and busy as our concert times are staggered, please drive cautiously as we will have many small children in attendance. In addition, based on your entry door, you will want to park close to that door.
  • Not all exterior doors will be open for the event. Please follow the direction from your child's teacher on which door you will be able to access entry.
  • You will not be in allowed in to the concert area early as there will be another group of students performing. Please don't come early to get a seat as the doors will open when it is your child's concert time.
  • After the concert, your child will return to their classroom so that your child's teacher can ensure that they are picked up by the parent.
  • Be sure to note the time of your chid's concert so you don't miss it. Based on our student's ages, we keep these performances short and age appropriate.

If you have any specific questions regarding times or locations, please reach out to your child's teacher. We can't wait to see our students sing! They are so excited to perform and spend this time together.

Placement Information for the 2025-2026 School Year

Soon, we will begin working on class lists for the 2025-2026 school year. We do our best to ensure that each classroom has positive group dynamics and is well balanced. As we start this process, if you have information you would like us to consider as it pertains to your child’s learning style, please complete the form below by Thursday, April 24th, 2025.

Requests for a specific teacher are not recommended, please provide general information to help us in our placement process (teaching style, special considerations, etc.). Please note that making a request does not guarantee it can be honored.

Throughout the placement process, a great deal of careful thought will be given by our teachers regarding each individual student’s learning strengths and peer relations. We will continue to work hard to create the best learning environment for every child. Your child's teacher will look at friendships to determine which students work well together, so requesting specific friends be placed together isn't a protocol because you can't request placement on behalf of another student.

The forms below will be used for this process, please don't email your child's teacher or administration, we are collaborating on class lists and using the forms below.

If your child is going into first grade during the 2025-2026 school year, fill out the form below in your preferred language.

Safety Week at Primary! Safety Week at Primary!

We are geared up for a week dedicated to reviewing our safety protocols. Teachers will be reviewing lessons on safety in all areas of our school as well as a review of safety drills. In addition to our safety lessons, we will be having community helpers visit our school each day to greet our students. The schedule of our community helpers and the day they will be visiting is below. Safety is a priority at Woodland Primary and keeping these protocols front and center provides us with a trusting learning environment.

Arab American Heritage Month Arab American Heritage Month

zoom_out_map

April is Arab American Heritage Month. This celebration honors Arab Americans' achievements throughout the past and present. First celebrated in 2017 as an initiative that only involved a few states and cities, Arab American Heritage Month first gained national recognition in April 2021, when former President Biden because the first U.S. president to issue a proclamation making the celebration official.

The Arabic Quilt is a great story to share and discuss with your child.

Synopsis: Kanzi's family has moved from Egypt to America, and on her first day in a new school, what she wants more than anything is to fit in. Maybe that's why she forgets to take the kofta sandwich her mother has made for her lunch, but that backfires when Mama shows up at school with the sandwich. Mama wears a hijab and calls her daughter Habibti (dear one). When she leaves, the teasing starts.

That night, Kanzi wraps herself in the beautiful Arabic quilt her teita (grandma) in Cairo gave her and writes a poem in Arabic about the quilt. Next day her teacher sees the poem and gets the entire class excited about creating a "quilt" (a paper collage) of student names in Arabic. In the end, Kanzi's most treasured reminder of her old home provides a pathway for acceptance in her new one.
This authentic story with beautiful illustrations includes a glossary of Arabic words and a presentation of Arabic letters with their phonetic English equivalents.
