The Hive
August 16th, 2025
AJJH will cultivate a thriving learning community where every student is engaged, challenged, and empowered to become a confident, resilient, and lifelong learner.
Our mission is to empower every student to achieve academic, social, and personal success through engaging learning experiences, high expectations, strong relationships, and a culture of continuous improvement.
EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS
To exceed expectations means to deliver results, performance, or behavior that significantly surpasses what was anticipated, requested, or required.
Dear AJJH Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Week 8! As we continue working together to help every scholar succeed, please review these important reminders with your scholar. Take a moment to complete our **Parent Interest Survey**. Your feedback is important and helps us better understand the needs and interests of our families.
Academics Matter
Continue to monitor your scholar’s grades and assignments. Encourage your scholar to complete all work, ask questions when assistance is needed, and take advantage of after-school tutorials Monday–Thursday. As we approach the end of the grading period, make plans to attend after school tutorials to receive additional support, complete missing assignments, and redo eligible assignments with low scores. Students should complete all necessary work by Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Saturday Tutorials – October 3
Saturday Tutorials will be available for 7th and 8th Grade Math and Reading from 8:30–11:30 AM. Transportation will not be provided.
Attendance Matters
Our campus attendance goal is 96%. Every instructional day matters! Please make every effort to have your scholar at school on time, every day, and ready to learn.
ID Badges
All scholars are required to wear their school-issued ID badge around their neck daily while on campus. ID badges are an important part of our campus safety procedures. Failure to wear the required ID badge will result in consequences. Please remind your scholar to bring and wear their ID badge every day.
Cell Phone Expectations
Cell phones should be powered OFF and properly stored in backpacks during the school day. Scholars should not have cell phones out or in their possession during instructional time or while using the restrooms. Cell phones found in a scholar’s possession when going to the restrooms will be confiscated. Please help us reinforce these expectations with your scholar.
Behavior & Expectations
Scholars are expected to follow campus procedures, show respect, make positive choices, and come prepared to learn each day. Please remind your scholar to leave all Nedos and squishy toys at home. These toys can become a distraction to the learning environment and are very difficult to clean when popped. Any Nedos and squishy toys seen will be confiscated.
Morning Drop Offs
Scholars may be dropped off in the car rider line. Scholars should not be dropped off in the parking lots.
Election 2026
Channelview ISD will have five propositions on the November 3, 2026 ballot: one Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) proposition and four bond propositions. The voter registration deadline is Monday, October 5, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3.
Families and community members can visit the Channelview ISD website and select Election 2026 for information about the propositions and election.
Following campus expectations helps us maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment for everyone. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building strong scholars and a strong Hornet Nation!
Your Proud Principal,
Priscilla Jones-Revis
Alice Johnson Junior High

PBIS Rewards?
PBIS Rewards is a schoolwide system we use at Alice Johnson Junior High to encourage and recognize positive student behavior.
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Instead of focusing only on consequences, PBIS Rewards helps us intentionally teach, model, and celebrate the behaviors we want to see in our students every day.
How It Works
Students earn PBIS points when they demonstrate positive behaviors such as being respectful, responsible, prepared, and engaged in learning.
Points are earned during the school day from staff members who recognize students for making good choices.
Students can redeem points for incentives, rewards, and special opportunities through our campus PBIS program.
