March 2026
Burnside Elementary
Note from the Principal
Dear Burnside Families,
As we head toward spring, our students are continuing to strengthen their academic skills while practicing being safe, kind, and responsible throughout the school day. We are currently focused on learning growth and reinforcing our positive expectations at recess and in shared spaces to ensure everyone feels supported.
Following our celebration of Black History Month in February, we will honor Women's History Month throughout March. We will celebrate the contributions of trailblazing women through daily announcements and classroom conversations.
March is also National Reading Month. You can support your student’s reading journey at home by:
Reading together for 20 minutes each night.
Asking questions about the characters and plot of the books they bring home.
Modeling reading by letting your child see you enjoy a book, magazine, or newspaper.

Lost and Found
LOTS OF LOST & FOUND
Every day students leave their coats, jackets, sweaters, hats, and lunch boxes on the school grounds. Those items without a student’s name are picked up and brought to our lost and found located in the hallway by the front office. During the school year when the pile gets high, we donate these items. Please be sure to check when you are in the building for conferences. The remaining items will be donated on March 6, 2026.
