Welcome Back, Pirates!
Hey Pirates!
Thank you all and have another great week!
FINAL ROADS PROJECT UPDATE!
Campus Roads Project Completed! - Parking Lots and New Roads Reopening Today!
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the ongoing roads project on campus! We understand that this construction may have caused some inconvenience throughout this semester, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding throughout the process.
Effective TODAY, Friday, April 18, 2025, we are reopening the Administrative and Athletic parking lots for parking. We know this will be a welcome return to easier access for many of you.
In addition to the reopening of these lots, we are also excited to announce the opening of our two new roads on campus:
- Triunfo Avenue
- South College Avenue
Please be aware of an important change to our campus traffic flow after these openings: East College Avenue will no longer be a through road.
Going forward, to travel between South Main Street and Plano Avenue, you will need to utilize the newly opened Triunfo Avenue or South College Avenue.
To help you navigate these changes, we have attached a detailed map outlining the new traffic patterns on and around campus, including the routes for accessing the Porterville Campus and Pioneer and Vandalia Schools. We encourage you to take a moment to review this map to familiarize yourself with the updated road network.
We are confident that these improvements will enhance the overall accessibility and flow of traffic on our campus. Thank you again for your cooperation during this important project. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
New Traffic Patterns at PC
The following traffic patterns are now in effect on the Porterville College Camps.
All traffic lanes shown on the map above will be open for two way traffic.
E. College Avenue is NO LONGER BE A THROUGH ROAD. You will need to take Triunfo Avenue to travel East and West between S. Main Street and S. Plano Street.
ALL PC Parking Lots will once again open for PERMITED Parking. You will need to have a PC parking permit to park in the PC lots.
For Those Going to/from Porterville College:
- Access to PC Administration, Athletics, and Jamison Stadium Parking Lots will ONLY be available From S. Main Street on E. College Avenue. You will no longer be able to leave the lots and travel directly to S. Plano Street on E. College Avenue.
- Access to the rear of campus from S. Plano Street remains the same.
For those going to/from Vandalia Elementary or Pioneer Middle Schools:
- Dropoff locations will remain the same, however, there will no longer be thru-access on E. College Avenue from S. Main Street.
- From S. Main Street take Triunfo Avenue (new east to west road) to S. College Avenue (new north to south road) to E. College Avenue.
- There will no longer be access to the schools from S. Main Street via E. College. If you are coming from S. Main, you will need to use Triunfo (south of the stadium) from S. Main Street. Use the traffic circle to take S. College Avenue and then turn on to E. College to arrive at the schools.
- You may still access both schools using E. College from S. Plano St but you will need to use the new roads to exit.

Over 1,500 job seekers attended the 4th Annual Porterville College Job Fair held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 9 AM to 12 PM. Held inside the campus quad, the free job fair offered job seekers the chance to speak face-to-face with company representatives looking to fill hundreds of open positions. Attendees were able to share their skills and experience, making valuable connections for potential employment. An American Sign Language interpreter was also available on-site to ensure accessibility for all attendees.
Participating employers represented a wide range of sectors, including healthcare (State Hospitals, Eagle Mountain Healthcare, HealthForce), construction (Champion Home Builders, Powers), education (Teaching Fellows, Kern Community College District), manufacturing (Orkin, Sequoia Family Services), staffing agencies (Employment Connection, Exact Staff, HT Staffing & Development, Valley Angels), public service (Porterville Unified School District, City of Porterville, Tulare County), energy (SoCal Edison), and more.

These amazing works will remain on display through the end of the semester. Gallery hours are Monday – Thursday from 12 pm – 2 pm and 4 - 6 pm.

Great news from Phi Theta Kappa!
EDITOR'S NOTE: At press time, we received a great update from Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Dr. Sherrie Burgess. We will have more on this story in a later edition of News from the Crow's Nest, but wanted to share the news right away. Below is the news from Dr. Burgess:
We have great news…
Once again, the Community College League of California and Phi Theta Kappa named three students from PC to the All-California Academic Team. Marline Hidalgo made it onto the All-California 1st Academic Team, ranked as one of the top 36 community college students in all of California. Loretta Harris made the All-California 2nd Academic Team, ranked as one of the 72 community college students in all of California. and Marisa Garcia made the All-California 3rd Academic Team, ranked as one of the top 110 community college students in all of California.
We are very proud of our students and congratulate them on their academic achievements. They have worked hard to maintain academically rigorous coursework, outstanding GPA’s, they participate in community service events, and are working at the same time. What amazing students we have!!!
If you see Marline, Loretta, or Marisa in class, on Zoom, or walking around campus… congratulate them (hugs, handshakes and hi-five’s are awesome) for representing our college academically! As a side note, PC was the only school from our district to have students make the All-California Academic Teams this year.
Thanks for supporting our students. 😊
