Using Grading Columns in Schoology

Are you looking for a way to track offline learning or learning that occurs outside of Schoology? Do you have an assignment that assesses learning across two content areas? You can use Grading Columns to track student learning or as a way to add a grade to another content area. Unlike an Assignment, Grade Columns do not have materials associated with them nor do students have to submit work.

To add a Grade Column to your Schoology Gradebook, select the "plus" sign in the upper right column and select "Add Grade Column." Give your column a name, category and marking period. You can even individually assign a grade column to individual students or to a grading group. Did you notice you did not have the option to add a due date? No problem, click on the 3 dots in the right corner and select Bulk Edit. Give your Grade Column a due date and select Save Changes at the bottom.

Don’t Forget to Include a Due Date on Schoology Assignments

If you forget to add a due date to a Schoology assignment the due date will automatically default to the last day of the nine weeks when syncing to TAC. No big deal, right? As it stands, that assignment will not be included in the course average until the due date arrives. In TAC, you might notice a bold blue line in your gradebook. The blue line designates the current date. Any assignments to the left of the blue line will be included in the course average, while any assignments to the right will not be included. If you notice any assignments lingering to the left, you will want to go into Schoology to update the assignment’s due date.

Tough times don't last; tough people do. Tough times don't last; tough people do.
