RILEY RECAP - VOLUME 3 ISSUE 14
February 9, 2024
From the Desk of Principal Henderson
Dear Riley Parents, Guardians, and Scholars:
Happy Friday! Progress reports were given out to our students yesterday during their forth hour class. Now is a great time to check in with your student regarding their classes and having conversations to begin ensuring they are looking good as we get to the end of the year. If you did not see a copy of your students progress report and can not view up to date grades on PowerSchoool, please reach out to Mrs. Robinson (grobinson@sb.school) to help get set up with your information.
We are continuing to reminder our scholars of our high expectations we have for them. Students need to ensure that they are bringing their IDs and wearing them around their necks from the time they enter the building to when they leave. Coats, hats and bags/backpacks(nonclear) are not to be worn in the building during the school day. Scholars need to make sure they are putting these things in their lockers when they enter the building.
We are in the final stretch of the our Winter athletic season. We have wrestlers competing this weekend at Semi State, Boys Swimming begins their post-season next week, and our boys basketball is in its final couple weeks before their tournament run begins. Come out and support our amazing schools as much as possible.
THIS YEAR WE WILL RAISE THE BAR AT RILEY!
I am looking forward to working with you and your student as we work toward an academically successful school year. I can promise you the best of myself for your students each and every day. Please do not hesitate to contact me at shenderson2@sbcsc.k12.in.us if you have any questions or concerns during the year.
Our Goals:
1) Get students reading on grade level
2) A 95% attendance rate
3) A 90% graduation rate
We greatly appreciate the value that each and every one of our scholars and families brings to Riley. WE ARE THE PRIDE OF THE SOUTHSIDE! WE ARE #RILEYSTRONG!
Sincerely,
Shawn Henderson

FAMILY FRIENDLY SCHOOLS SURVEY
You will be receiving an email from Mr. Hardman regarding our designation as an IDOE Family Friendly School. We are required to send out surveys for our students and families to fill out to help talk about Riley and give us your honest feedback. We are hoping to continue our two-year running of being identified as a family-friendly school and the ONLY high school in South Bend to do so. Please help us out by filling out the survey below.
SAT TEST DAY
We are just a few weeks away from all of Junior class students participating in SAT school test day. All juniors will be required to be at school and taking the SAT on March 5, 2024. It will be an asynchronous E-Learning day for all other students. Only the junior class will be coming into school that day.
This is part a large part of our overall school grade and we hope that all our scholars take it seriously, get good rest and put forth their best efforts as we take the test next month. Please work with your student to make sure they have their Chromebook all ready fixed and charged and ready for test day.
