VOLUME 5
3 April 2025
As we journey through this Holy Week, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and reverence. We remember the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who gave His life for our salvation. Help us to reflect on His love and the lessons of His passion, death, and resurrection. Bless our students, teachers, and families with Your peace and guidance. May the joy of Easter fill our hearts and inspire us to live out our faith with courage and conviction.
Amen.
PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As the term concludes next week, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support so far this year. Your faith and trust in what we do at St John Paul II CPS is evident, and I always value how you are present when you can be at community events such as the Parent Information Night, our Aboriginal Cultural Night, assemblies, and masses at our church.
I will be on leave next week, holidaying in Vietnam. During my time in Ho Chi Minh, I will be visiting the orphanage that we support as a school community. I am very excited to meet the children and Sisters who live there. During my absence, Mr. Nic Bigwood will be Acting Principal, and Mrs. Michelle Clapp will be Assistant Principal.
Holy Week Assembly
Next Friday, our Year 6 students will be leading our Holy Week Assembly. It will be a special way to finish our term as a community and recognise the Holy Week leading up to the celebration of Easter.
2026 Kindy Enrolments
Is your child turning 4 between 1st July 2025 and 30th June 2026? Make sure you have collected, completed, and lodged an application form with the front office as soon as possible. Interviews for kindergarten positions next year commenced this week.
Pre-Kindy
I am very excited to announce that commencing Term 3, we will again be running a 3-Year-Old Kindy program. The Pre-Kindy program will be run for a full day on Tuesdays. The focus of the program is to create a smooth transition from home to the school environment, ensuring your child feels happy and safe in our care.
For those who wish to take up the offer, there are limited places available, and about half have already been taken. Please contact the school office if you are interested in a Pre-Kindy place for your child.
Whadjuk Gift
Next Thursday, our Year 5 students will visit Mater Dei to be involved in the annual Whadjuk Gift. This is quite an event as over 400 Year 5 students come together with Indigenous Elders, community members, and Mater Dei College staff and students to celebrate our First Nations with a series of ceremonies, activities, and games. A great time should be had by all.
Easter Raffle
I am grateful to see the vast amount of donations for the Easter Raffle and the many tickets sold. Thank you to all families for your contributions, Ms. Sheahan for her assistance with the preparation of the raffle, and our P&F for putting the prizes together. Our raffle winners will be presented with their prizes on Wednesday at 2:30pm. Parents are welcome to attend.
I wish you all a very safe, and holy Easter and look forward to seeing many happy faces back at school on Monday April 28.

CENTERED ON JESUS CHRIST
LENT
The season of Lent is upon us. This season is an invitation to put aside the many distractions around us and give time and space to God and to others.
PROJECT COMPASSION
Spanning across the 40 days of Lent, Project Compassion brings thousands of Australian schools and parishes together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.
For the remainder of this term we will be inviting children to contribute to project compassion – all funds raised will be collated at the end of the term and passed onto Caritas Australia to support these communities in need. All the support you are able to provide will be gratefully received.
One of the yearly highlights of Project Compassion is the opportunity to engage with the stories that show the difference Project Compassion makes to the lives of others. I would encourage you to look at one of the stories on the Caritas website to see how our contributions are helping others.
You can support Project Compassion 2025 through the donation boxes or by scanning the QR code below.
Thank you for standing with us as we Unite Against Poverty this Lent.
HOLY WEEK ASSEMBLY
Our Year 6 students will lead us in a whole school Prayer Assembly in the undercover area next Friday, 11th April as we prepare for Easter. All families are welcome to join us.
