A Note from the Principal
I want to send a special thank you to our wonderful custodial team, who has been hard at work in our building every day since June 1, preparing Roxboro for the new school year.
Our head custodian, Mr. Smith, and his team have spent the summer working tirelessly to wax floors, move furniture, paint walls, deep clean classrooms and common spaces, and prepare every corner of Roxboro for your children—all while working through the summer heat. Their work is truly behind the scenes, but it makes an enormous difference in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for the year ahead.
I am incredibly grateful for this team and all they do. Every time I've needed something this summer, Mr. Smith has responded with a reassuring, "I got you." As a new principal, I can't tell you how much I've appreciated that support. It has made all the difference as we've prepared to welcome our teachers and staff next week and our students on Wednesday, August 19.
Please join me in thanking our amazing custodial team: Mr. Smith, Mr. Beaman, Mr. Gordon, Ms. Bennett, and Ms. Dotson. We are so fortunate to have them at Roxboro!
Best,
Mel Barrett Burkeet
Principal, Roxboro Elementary School

Parent Annual Update - Required by 8/18
Last year I heard that Rox El was the first school in the district to reach 100% completion of PAUs. Let's do it again!!
Log in to Infinite Campus to complete your Annual Update before 8/18. This important step ensures we have the most up-to-date contact, emergency, and family information so we can best support your child throughout the school year.
If you need assistance, please call us at Rox to help! We will also have computers available to use in our main office on 8/13 during our school supply drop-off event at 2:00pm.
You must complete the PAU in order to access your child’s teacher/classroom assignment and/or schedule in Infinite Campus. Between August 12-14, the portal will be open for the new school year, and families who have completed the PAU can see schedules/courses, etc. at that time.
Additionally, until your child's PAU for the 2026-2027 school year has been completed, they will not be permitted to participate in field trips, sports*, or extra-curricular activities.
It’s extremely important that we have the most up-to-date emergency contact and medical information for your child when they are participating in such activities. To avoid these consequences, please complete your child’s PAU by August 18.
Directions for how to complete the Annual Update:
1. Log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
- All CH-UH parents/guardians have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Parents/guardians have either self-registered or have been issued an account. Newly enrolled families receive account information via email within a few business days after their student is enrolled. If you are experiencing login difficulties or need a password reset, please contact your school’s front office staff or the Data Department at icportal@chuh.org.

Rox El's school supply list can be found here. The district website has all the information you need for back to school. Check it out here.
Note that the sales tax holiday is coming up, which might be a good time to buy supplies. From Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9, shoppers will be able to make qualifying purchases both in-store and online without paying state sales tax, with certain exemptions. Visit the Ohio Department of Taxation web page for more details.
Kindergarten Kick-Off - 8/11

If you have an incoming Kindergarten student, join us to meet staff members, learn about Rox El's Kindergarten program, have dinner, get swag, and meet other Kinder students and families! Class Dojo
As part of a districtwide effort to strengthen communication and support our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, Roxboro will be expanding our use of ClassDojo this year. Many of our teachers and families already use ClassDojo, and we're excited to make it an even more effective way to share classroom updates, celebrate student successes, and stay connected.
If you're new to ClassDojo, don't worry! I'll share more information in our next newsletter about how to connect and get started.
