Unlocking Student Potential: APA & ACT Night - Post Meeting Information
In October, 2025, District families joined us at Lake Zurich High School to learn how the ACT and Illinois Accelerated Placement Act (APA) support student growth and guide course placement for 2026–2027. A recording, presentation slides, and APA guidelines are attached so all families who were not able to attend have the information needed to guide students in testing and course selection.
What’s New? Transportation Devices & Rules in Lake Zurich and Hawthorn Woods
The Village of Hawthorn Woods recently passed an ordinance regarding transportation devices and rules, similar to those in the Village of Lake Zurich. Both e-scooters, e-skateboards, and e-dirt bikes are prohibited within the villages. E-bikes are permitted but must follow specific regulations. For more details, visit the Village of Lake Zurich website found HERE. Additional information from the Hawthorn Woods Police Department will be shared in the coming weeks. For those interested in learning more about e-bike safety, below are several resources.

IMPORTANT!! OPT-IN FOR TEXTING - STAY INFORMED AND CONNECTED
In an effort to always be prepared to deliver timely/emergency communications, the district contracts with two mass communication vendors - our primary vendor, Blackboard, and a secondary vendor, School Messenger (to be used in the event of an outage with our primary system). These tools enable us to contact you via email, voice mail, and SMS (text message), including during a crisis.
School Messenger requires that all recipients opt-in to receive text messages. Please take a moment to opt-in from your device for text messages so that we are able to reach you when important or emergency information arises if we need to use the School Messenger system.
Opting in is quick and easy - just text “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and District 95 is raising awareness about online safety for our students, staff, and community.
Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or X at LZdistrict95 as we highlight practical ways families can stay safe online—such as recognizing phishing emails, using strong passwords, keeping devices updated, and enabling extra account protections.
Talking with your children about these habits helps everyone stay safer in today’s digital world.
Visit the Lake County Transition Market

Athletics Information Regarding Important Documents and Registration
Needed Forms Prior to First Day of Activity/Tryout:
For students interested in trying out and participating in a sport, students must have the following:
Physical: All students participating in tryouts and a sport must have a current physical or sports physical on file. Physicals are good for one year and one month from the date the physical was conducted. Please check to make sure your physical is current prior to tryouts or the start of an athletic activity. The physical should be turned into the Nurse’s Office.
Emergency Information Form: Students must have a completed and signed Emergency Information Form for each activity they are trying out for/participating in. They will need to turn this form in to the coach or sponsor at the time of tryouts. If try-outs are not required, then the form should be turned in at the first meeting of the sport or activity.
All required medical forms and athletic schedules can be found on the Athletics & Activities website.
All registration for activities will be in ParentVUE and information about registration will be sent later this summer.
