Enriching and Strengthening Family Life Through Education and Play

The Weymouth Child Family Community Center provides support to families from birth through school age. We provide access to comprehensive services, child development information, and educational opportunities to parents and caregivers. Our playgroups and programs are designed to raise awareness on the importance of family engagement while teaching important literacy, STEM and school readiness skills. As a parent or caregiver, you are your child's first and most important teacher! We are here to support you in this role!

Weymouth CFCE Strengthens Families:

1.Each family is unique and all families represent diverse structures.

2.Diversity is expressed and experienced at multiple levels

3.Building a respectful, trusting, and reciprocal relationship is the shared responsibility

4.Families are their child’s first and best advocate.

5.Family engagement must be equitable

Parent Workshop on Positive Behavior Support

Please join us as we welcome our March Parent Education Series presenters Mrs. Costa LMHC (Child Life Counselor) and Mrs. Magner (Special Education Teacher) as they help us learn how to incorporate positive behavior support strategies that will help improve behavioral success through non-punitive and proactive techniques. Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) is a school wide framework that offers an approach to develop an understanding of why children engage in challenging behavior and strategies to prevent challenging behaviors while teaching them new skills. This workshop will focus on how to implement and carry over these PBS strategies into the home environment. We will review how to help your child identify their feelings, work through challenging emotions while gaining appropriate coping skills. We will also review preventive strategies such as creating routines, rules and schedules.

STEM

1,2,3 Blast off! Our young STEM imagineers took flight to the moon with the story “Roaring Rockets”

They learned that rockets have great power as they rise and roar to the moon and they helped count down to lift off. After learning a little about astronauts and the special suits they wear on the moon, the children created their own rockets and counted down to lift off!

Mindful Movements

Our Mindful Movements program has expanded to include a separate program for 4&5 year olds. In both programs the children are learning poses that increase strength, flexibility and coordination as well as breathing techniques. Each week they learn different poses to coincide with the characters in the story. In the story “Over in the Meadow” the children also counted animals to help learn number recognition.
