Warren School Weekly Update

August 28, 2025
Normally, this message is sent out at 10 AM on Fridays. With Ashland Public Schools closed tomorrow and Monday for the holiday weekend, I’m sharing it with you today.
As we head into the long weekend, I want to take a moment to acknowledge Labor Day. While many of us think of it as a day off from school or a chance to enjoy the last days of summer, it is also an important holiday that honors the hard work and contributions of people in every community.
Some of you may be wondering how to explain this to your child. Here is one way to put it:
“Labor Day is a day when we say thank you to all the people who work to make our lives better, like teachers, nurses, firefighters, mail carriers, builders, grocery workers, and so many others. It reminds us that every job is important, and together, people’s work helps our community.”
This weekend is a wonderful opportunity to talk with your child about the different kinds of work people do. You might share about your own job or the jobs of family members, or encourage your child to notice the workers they see each day and reflect on how those people help others.
This week, our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students did an amazing job returning to school and showing our core values of being kind, safe, responsible, and respectful. Our Kindergarten students and families had the opportunity to meet teachers, explore classrooms, and tour the school.
We also held our first grade-level assemblies. Today, Mrs. Linares and I had the chance to meet with all of the Grade 2 and Grade 1 students together to welcome everyone back and to talk about what it means to be a role model at Warren School.
All of us at Warren are excited to welcome all of our young learners back together on Tuesday!
Have a great long weekend,
Pete
