Superintendent's Letter Superintendent's Letter

Dear Bristol Township School Community,

I hope all is well and that your school year is progressing nicely as we make our way into November.

This will be one of my final newsletters as I prepare to retire and step down from my position at the start of the new year.

I am deeply appreciative of my time at Bristol Township and honored to have served this school community. I have had the privilege of meeting many wonderful families and working alongside some outstanding educators. So many of our staff members genuinely care about our students and work tirelessly on their behalf. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such dedicated colleagues.

As detailed in this newsletter, the Board has selected our current Chief Academic Officer, Amy Coleman, to serve as the district’s next Superintendent. Having worked with Mrs. Coleman for more than four years, I have been consistently impressed by her leadership and abilities. I am confident that she will be an excellent superintendent and that the Bristol Township School District will be in very good hands.

I will continue to work closely with Mrs. Coleman and the Board to ensure a smooth transition of district leadership.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Bristol Township School District. I wish the very best to our students, families, staff, and the entire BTSD community.

Sincerely,

Michael Nitti

Superintendent of Schools

Longtime district leader and current Chief Academic Officer will begin new role January 1, 2027

The Bristol Township School District Board of School Directors appointed Amy L. Coleman as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools at its meeting Tuesday, October 27. Coleman currently serves as the district’s Chief Academic Officer and Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Coleman will succeed Superintendent Michael Nitti, who informed the Board in June of his intention to retire at the start of the new year.

“We are appreciative of Mr. Nitti’s leadership and service to Bristol Township School District, and we wish him the very best in his retirement,” said James Morgan, President of the Bristol Township Board of School Directors.

The Board conducted a comprehensive review and interview process of internal candidates throughout the summer and early fall. Following that process, the Board selected Coleman to lead the district beginning January 1, 2027.

Grant expands STEAM programming for Bucks County students

The Bucks County Intermedia Unit Fab Lab received a $197,800 grant from Amazon to expand hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) programming for Bucks County students.

Brookwood, Keystone, and Mill Creek Elementary schools all enjoy visits from the Mobile Fab Lab! Each school receives a one-week visit and can use the lab’s 3D printers, laser cutters, and robotics equipment.

Additionally, fifth-grade students travel to the Fab Lab’s home site in Ivyland for career-awareness field trips that introduce design thinking, prototyping, and digital fabrication skills

Start with Hello Week

To celebrate Start with Hello Week, Keystone students were greeted by BTSD administrators and staff, school resource officer Jennifer Jacker, and members of the Croydon Fire Department with smiles, high-fives and "hellos." These simple gestures can help every child feel welcome, valued, and seen!

Mix It Up Day

Brookwood wrapped up Say Hello Week with a fun Mix It Up Day for students in grades 1–5! Students had the opportunity to step outside their usual routines, sit with someone new, and make new connections with their classmates. Meghan Brogan, Class of 2024, served nearly three years in the PA Air National Guard at Biddle Air Guard Base in Horsham, Pa. She’s currently a Cadet Candidate at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School, preparing to commission through the Air Force Academy.

“I tell everyone I meet that committing to serve was the best decision I have ever made, and I stand firmly by that,” said Brogan.

She enlisted at 17, before she even started her senior year at Truman. She was initially drawn by the benefits and opportunities that the military offered but came to understand the deeper reason behind her decision: service.

“Service has always been one of my core values, whether it’s serving my family, my community, or now, my country,” said Brogan. “As I’ve grown in the Air Force, that value has only become more important to me. What started as a decision at 17 has grown into a genuine commitment to something bigger than myself, and it’s a commitment I hope to carry with me throughout my life.”
