We are proud to announce that our 6th grade and 12th grade students won the attendance challenge AGAIN for the month of November! 🎉

Attendance is critical to our school funding and, most importantly, to ensuring students do not miss essential instruction. Please note that the 2nd Nine Weeks ends on Friday, December 19. We encourage families to review student grades and contact us with any questions or concerns.

We will continue hosting random drawings and offering incentives to recognize students with perfect attendance. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students succeed!

UNIFORM Reminders! UNIFORM Reminders!

We are so proud of our students and parents for ensuring students are dressed in proper uniform! Thank you for partnering with us to help students return in January ready to learn. Uniform checks will continue as we support consistency and safety across the campus.

We're excited to note that YWA has provided a blazer and tie to any student who needed uniform assistance! The Young Women's Preparatory Network has provided the financial resources to make this happen! Thank you YWPN!

REMINDER: Parents, please ensure your student’s name or ID number is written on the blazer's tag. If your student is missing a blazer, please check at home to see if another student’s blazer was accidentally taken—most blazers are labeled with a name or ID.

We have a few blazers that have been returned to the front office. If your student is missing a blazer, please bring a receipt as proof of purchase of the blazer so we can determine if an item can be returned to you. If your student has a blazer that does not belong to them, please return it to the front office. Thank you for your support in helping us keep uniforms organized.

🚫 Please Note:

  • Leggings, jeans, and baggy pants are not permitted.

  • As we launch the school year with our new uniform, dress code and uniform checks will be enforced. Please review the guidelines carefully.

  • Facial & NOSE piercings and excessive makeup are not allowed under EPISD dress code guidelines. Students should remove all facial piercings and apply only modest makeup. Parents, we appreciate your support in helping us uphold these expectations in alignment with EPISD policy.

REMINDER- Cell Phone & Electronics Policy

At YWA, we will continue enforcing our Cell Phone/Electronics Policy with an important update:

🔹 Students are not permitted to use electronic devices at any time—from morning arrival until afternoon dismissal.
🔹 All devices must be stored in a purse or backpack and may not be carried on the student’s person (i.e., in pockets or hands).

Thank you for your continued support in maintaining a focused learning environment.

The law defines “personal communication devices” broadly to include:

  • Cell phones

  • Smartwatches

  • Tablets

  • Laptops

  • Radios, pagers, and other digital communication-capable devices

✅ Allowed Exceptions

The law allows students to use their devices in limited cases, including when required by:

  • An Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plan

  • A medical directive from a physician

  • Legal safety requirements or approved emergency procedures

Please review the full policy carefully to ensure understanding and compliance.
