Forsyth ACT Scores > State ACT Scores

For the fourth year in a row Forsyth High School students are scoring higher than the state average on the ACT college entrance exam.

What is the ACT?

The ACT exam is a tool designed to measure a high school student’s probability in being successful in their first-year of college, and to provide colleges with a common data point that is uniform for all applicants. Students are tested in English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing test. The highest score possible is a 36.

Why is the ACT important?

The ACT exam has become one of the most important admissions pieces for incoming freshmen, with most colleges having a minimum score for admittance. Several academic scholarships are awarded to students with high ACT scores.

FCCLA and FACS in Action

Mrs. Padgett's Housing class has been discussing the process of renting vs buying homes to prepare students for the next stage of their lives. Last week Mrs. Padgett invited guest speakers into the classroom to discuss the process; Mr. Padgett on renting, Ryan Sanders with Branson Bank, and Lacey Sanders with realty. Students took a field trip with Lacey Sanders on Wednesday, Oct. 12th to various homes in the Branson and Forsyth areas to connect their classroom learning to the real world.

FCCLA also hosted a faculty breakfast on Thursday, October 13th to show their appreciation for the staff.

Head, Shoulders, Knees-and-Toes

Biology II students don't call or label body parts with their colloquial terms, but with their anatomical terms. Shown here is Biology II student Tristan, testing his memory of anatomical terminology by pinning a 3D model with correct vocabulary, Although limited, some studies have shown that studying anatomical terminology in 3D as opposed to traditional illustrations leads to advantages in accuracy of information when tested and a greater overall satisfaction with learning.
