NO SCHOOL - FRIDAY 2/13 & MONDAY 2/16 NO SCHOOL - FRIDAY 2/13 & MONDAY 2/16

From the Principal From the Principal

Happy Wednesday Cherrydale Families!

As we continue working together to create a safe and positive learning environment for all students, we appreciate the partnership we share with our families. Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our school run smoothly each day. A few important reminders are included below.

Morning Arrival & Student Safety Reminder

Student safety is always our top priority. Please remember that school supervision begins at 9:00 a.m. Students should not be dropped off before 9:00 a.m., as there are no staff members available to supervise them prior to that time. Arriving early means students may be unsupervised, which creates a safety concern. We truly appreciate your partnership in helping us keep all students safe by planning morning drop-off accordingly. Thank you for your support and cooperation!

Upcoming Four-Day Weekend

A friendly reminder that there will be no school this Friday and Monday, giving our students and staff a four-day weekend. We hope your family enjoys the extended break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday, February 17th, refreshed and ready to learn.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Warm Regards,

Christine Firth, Principal

Celebrating 100 Days Smarter!

Last Friday, Cherrydale students hit a big milestone—the 100th Day of School—and our students celebrated in the most creative way possible! Hallways were transformed into mini art galleries filled with projects inspired by the number 100. From collections of 100 colorful shapes and stickers to drawings, paintings, and posters showing 100 things students love.

These art displays weren’t just fun to look at—they showcased students’ creativity. What a joyful way to celebrate learning, creativity, and 100 days of success!

Lost & Found: A Growing Legend in the Foyer

If you’ve noticed a mysterious mountain forming near the office, don’t worry—it’s not a new school addition. It’s our Lost & Found, and yes… it’s officially growing taller than some of our students.

Students and families are encouraged to stop by, take a look, and claim your lost belongings. Because if we don’t, the Lost & Found might just become the tallest thing on campus—and it already has a pretty strong lead.

We strongly recommend labeling your child’s jacket with their name to help ensure it is returned to them if misplaced.

Health & Attendance Health & Attendance

Details on the SHSD attendance policy can be found in the SHSD Family and Student Handbook. Below is a brief summary.

Regular school attendance is necessary for mastery of the educational program provided to students of the District. Students are expected to attend all assigned classes each day. School staff will keep a record of absence and tardiness, including a call log and/or a record of excuse statements submitted by a parent/guardian or, in certain cases, students, to document a student’s excused absences.

In case of absences, parents are required to notify the school office and provide the student's name and reason for absence. The student is responsible for completing missed work. Students should notify their teacher(s) if they have a planned absence to arrange for the make-up of any lessons or assigned work that day.
