Be A Guardian - Be Gracious
The gift of failure is that it shines a spotlight on your biggest growth opportunities.
The moment you stop learning, testing, and trying is the moment you go backwards.
You have to risk a little crazy if you ever hope to escape the gravitational pull of the ordinary.
Never be ashamed to let your feelings, smiles, and tears shine a light on this world.
Sometimes we need less — not more.
When someone hears your name, they have certain expectations.
What we love is never true of flaws.
Message from Athletic Director, Mike Nolan

VOLLEYBALL — A SEASON TO CELEBRATE
A huge congratulations to our entire Guardian Volleyball Program on a tremendous season!
Our Guardians traveled to West Salem over the weekend for their first-round playoff matchup. While they came up short in their postseason effort, one result does not define what this group accomplished throughout the year.
A special THANK YOU to our seniors and senior parents for four years of commitment, sacrifice, support, and dedication to IBW Volleyball. You have left your mark on the program, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you have given.
And don't look away for long…
There are a LOT of Guardians coming back next year. Watch out! 👀🏐
Congratulations on a great season!
CROSS COUNTRY — DISTRICTS ARE HERE!
It's championship time for Guardian Cross Country!
Our runners head into the PIL District Meet this week with their sights set on extending the season.
The goal is simple: STATE!
Our teams and individual runners have worked throughout the fall for this opportunity, and now it's time to put that work to the test.
Run hard. Compete together. Trust your training.
Good luck, Guardians!
WOMEN'S SOCCER — PLAYOFF TIME!
The postseason has arrived for our Women's Soccer Program!
The Guardians travel to Lake Oswego High School on Tuesday night for their opening playoff match.
This group has competed all season, and now they get the opportunity to take that next step on the postseason stage.
Survive. Advance. Keep playing.
MEN'S SOCCER — HALLOWEEN PLAYOFF SOCCER AT HOME!
Get ready for a special one!
Our Men's Soccer Program will HOST its opening playoff match this Saturday—on Halloween!
Playoff soccer.
At home.
On Halloween.
Guardian Nation, let's create an incredible home-field atmosphere and help our guys start their postseason run!
THIS IS WHY WE DO IT
Championship games. Playoff opportunities. District meets. Senior Nights. Final matches. Rivalries. Teammates competing for one another.
These are the moments our student-athletes will remember.
Thank you to our coaches, families, staff, students, and Guardian community for continuing to show up and support these young people.
This is a huge week.
Let's enjoy it. Let's compete. Let's represent IBW the right way.
Be Gracious. Be Energetic. Be Helpful. Be Courageous. Be Encouraging.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
This week, we are celebrating our Fall Seniors! Read what our head coaches had to say about their senior group. And see our 2026 Fall Sports Program for individual write ups about Seniors!
Cheer
As the leaders of our program, our senior athletes have had an important role in shaping our team culture, setting the standard for those who will follow them, and leaving a lasting impact on Guardian Cheerleading. Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to the program help set the tone for our team both on and off the mat. Being a senior is so much more than the years spent in a uniform, on the sidelines, or on the mat. It is about the example you set, the teammates you encourage, and the legacy you leave behind. We are grateful for the time, energy, and heart these athletes have given and continue to give to our program. Congratulations to our senior Varsity Cheerleaders! We are so proud of you and excited to celebrate all that you accomplish in your final season with us!

Mike's Weekly Tid-Bits
I. Mastery of the Mundane
At the end of every day, you look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Did I get better today?"
And if the answer is yes and you do that for 5 years, 10 years, 15 years ― how much better are you going to be? Are you getting better every single day? That's the question.
And it's just taking small steps. You don't try to get it all done in 1 day, 1 week, or 1 year.
It's the process of getting better every day and doing that for a period of years that then creates the masterpiece.

II. Navigating the Tension Within
One of the most toxic ideas that grips our minds is perfection.
We expect it, we crave it, we wish to see it in our lives and relationships, but reality and the idea of perfection are in a constant state of friction. Reality is ever-changing. It is transformation combined with unpredictability.
Perfection is the opposite. It is an attempt to control and keep things within the boundaries of a certain mental image.
Reality is a flowing river. Perfection is a static painting.
Especially when it comes to our personal growth and the quality of our relationships, perfection has a sneaky way of warping our perception so that great things seem less than they really are, and small problems seem unnecessarily large.
Those of us who wish to live a good life not only need to have the humility to question our perception.
But we should also periodically check in with ourselves to see if perfection has created tension by taking the reins of our mind.

III. On Trust and Growth
Trust isn't only about people being loyal to you.
It's also about them being honest with you. The higher you climb, the more you need to be challenged.
Flattery feels good, but doesn't help you do better.
Tune out people who feed your ego. Tune in voices that fuel your growth.

IV. Question
What moment are you meeting, and what are you choosing to be present for?
V. This Week, I Will
Relax, my story is not finished.
Remember, my energy is a gift. Protect it.
Stop waiting for everything to be perfect to start.
Focus on what is in front of me. One step at a time.
Breathe. I don't have to have it all figured out right now.
