Construction Progress and Update
Dear Families and Community Members,
As we gear up for the 2024-25 school year, we are excited to share the latest updates on
BOLD’s summer construction projects. The teams have been working diligently, and we are
pleased to report that progress is unfolding as planned.
At Olivia, the transformation is well underway. The majority of work finishing up for the start of
school is essential for the functionality and accessibility of our school, as well as the upcoming
phases of work. And we are making steady progress addressing electrical and site drainage to
ensure our infrastructure meets the highest standards of reliability.
Site work started this summer with utility and grading work is nearing completion. Additional
projects that are progressing on schedule include:
- Work on track and field area will be wrapped up at the end of August and includes a new shotput space and rubber surfaces on the track, long jump, and pole vault areas.
- The new exit to improve both accessibility and safety is almost complete and will be open for the start of school.
- And, the best news is the playground should open in mid-September!
Some additional work getting in before school starts is a switch over to a new panel that feeds the kitchen and few other areas, along with preparations for an electrical switchover (new electrical switchgear and transformer) close to the start of school. BOLD’s local Culligan Vendor will be relocating the water softener and brine tanks, and the water heaters and storage tanks will be replaced to enhance operational efficiency. In the fall, we will have new mezzanine seats installed in the main gym and bleachers in the south gym.
A standout achievement is at Bird Island, where the fresh paint and new stage flooring are now
complete. The completed lighting installation is shining bright, and after the fall play, a new gym
floor, bleachers, and stage curtains will be installed at this site.
We are committed to keeping you informed and involved in the progress of these improvements.
These ongoing efforts to create better educational environments for our students, staff, and
community are only possible thanks to our communities and we are grateful for your continued
trust and support.
Monthly project updates are posted to our referendum project website at
BOLD.ReferendumFacts.org. Please direct any questions to Superintendent, Jim Menton.
We look forward to a fantastic school year ahead! Go Warriors!

BOLD 7-12 News
Greetings, BOLD Families!
My name is Melissa Hoffman Bodin, but feel free to call me Missy. I’m thrilled to be returning to BOLD Schools for my third year! After two years as Assistant Principal, I’ve now transitioned to the role of 7-12 Principal, and I’m excited to serve the Warrior community in this new capacity.
I am passionate about excellence in rural education and am committed to creating a school environment where everyone feels welcome and safe, seen and heard. I deeply believe in fostering a culture where all—students, staff, and families alike—have the opportunity to thrive. Building and nurturing such a culture takes a village, and I look forward to connecting and collaborating with the BOLD community, both inside and outside the school walls.
This school year, we have many exciting developments! We’re offering several new elective classes, expanding our REACH programming, and increasing mental health support. Our new track and playground facilities will be ready for action this fall, and that’s just the beginning! Many of our teachers have dedicated their summer to personal and professional growth, and they’re eager to share their learning with students. I’m proud of the dedication, curiosity, open-mindedness, flexibility, and creativity that the BOLD teaching staff consistently brings to our school. Most importantly, the BOLD staff genuinely cares about our students, and I’m grateful to be part of this Warrior team.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or just to connect. It’s going to be a fantastic year!
