AFTERNOON PICK-UP

Thank you to the parents who clearly display their family name on the car to assist the quick flow of traffic in both car parks. If your family name is not clearly displayed, please ensure this is done ASAP as it will help us with traffic management. If you have misplaced your family name sign please contact Gill in the office and she will make a new sign for your car.

I also ask for your patience in the afternoons, particularly in the church carpark. Every effort is made by staff to have traffic move quickly; however, holdups occur when children do not listen for their name or do not respond quickly and move to the gate. On occasion we have been calling for children only to find they were in OSH and parents had forgotten.

Please also remember that it is against the Traffic Code to enter a round-about unless you can exit it immediately.

In anticipation – thank you.

UNIFORM

As we are half way through Term 3, it is time to dust off each child’s summer uniform before they return in Term 4. If your child needs a new uniform, the uniform shop is open on Wednesday mornings and will happily fit your child for a new uniform.

Please remember that all children will be required to be dressed in the new uniform from the start of the 2025 school year.

Old uniforms in reasonable condition can be handed into the Uniform Shop where they will be donated to charities working with communities in Africa.

School Code of Conduct School Code of Conduct

A reminder that every member of the St Anthony’s School community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.

Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and afternoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours as outlined in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relationships for themselves.

Conduct Statements

  1. You act safely and competently.
  2. You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.
  3. You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.
  4. You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relationship with the school community.
  5. You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.
  6. You treat personal information about members of the school community as private and confidential.
  7. You give impartial, honest and accurate information about the education, safety and well-being of students.
  8. You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.
  9. You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relationship with all members of the school community.
  10. You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
  11. You act reflectively and ethically.
  12. You allow students to have a voice in their education, safety and well-being

The Code describes the minimum requirements expected of all members of our community and that all in our community conduct themselves personally and professionally in a way that maintains public trust and confidence in our school and the Church. While mandatory language such as ‘must’, ‘shall’ and ‘will’ is not used throughout the Code, there is a presumption the conduct described is mandatory and therefore not optional.

Library News Library News

The last two weeks in the Library have been very exciting. We have been talking about the 2024 Olympics and discussing France. Go Aussies!

We have also been discovering all the wonderful CBCA Book Week Shortlisted books. Book Week is a great opportunity to learn about new Australian authors and illustrators and promote reading. The theme this year is “Reading is Magic”. The Library has come alive with a special “Reading is Magic” fluro pit which all students in the school have been enjoying. A special thank you to Mr Matta for his help in putting it together! Book Week is in Week 6 and the parade is on 21st August at 8.45am. We are looking forward to seeing all the amazing costumes of book characters come alive.

HAPPY READING FROM THE LIBRARY

Science Week - 10th to 18th August! Science Week - 10th to 18th August!

The school theme for National Science Week in 2024 is Species Survival - More than just sustainability. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.

Many congratulations to the Ellen family on the safe arrival of Luca, a brother for Olivia in our Three Year Old Program.

Medical News Medical News

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a significant increase of absentees and illnesses through our school community over the first three weeks of this term.

If your child is not well – sore throat, fever, persistent cough and/or an upset stomach – please keep them at home until all symptoms have resolved. Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without medication, prior to returning to school. Your child may want to continue coming to school; however, this will only spread viruses/illnesses to other students and staff. Please continue to remind your children to practice good hand hygiene and etiquette.

Our school medical illness protocol is below. Please refer to this regarding your child’s medical condition.

Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and well.

Warmest wishes,

Aleisha Raby

School Nurse
