Welcome Back to School Year 2025-2026

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of our Admin team, Teachers and Staff at Dr. Green Elementary, I am honored to welcome our new and returning families and students to our community to the 2025-2026 school year!

We hope you enjoyed and had a fun and active summer. Our teachers and staff have worked very hard to have everything ready for your children and we are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. We were delighted to met your children the first week of school. We were happy to hear their summer and traveling stories.

Thank you for joining us during Meet the Teacher and/or Open House. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your children learning by ensuring that: 1) They attend school daily and arrive on time 2) They complete all homework assignments given by teachers 3) They read daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills 4) They share school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life 5) They inform you if they need additional support in any area or subject 6) They know that you expect them to succeed in school.

I am attaching a copy of our school 2025-2026 student handbook so that you and your child can review it together. A paper copy was also sent in the green folder on Tuesday, August 5. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year. Please review, sign the additional signature page and return it by placing the signed one-pager inside the green folder.

Please consider joining our school volunteer program, be the classroom- room parent- and PTA as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school’s program and its operations.

I feel privileged to be a part of this school community and foster an open-door policy for continuous communication. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with ideas, suggestions or any concerns you may have. We thank you for your support and look forward to a great school year 2025-2026!

Respectfully,

Guadalupe Pineda

Day 1-Day 2 and After Day 1-Day 2 and After

The following Day 1 Procedures were Followed last Monday, August 4th and will continue to be followed with the exception of allowing parents in the building from Day 2 and forward

Traffic:

Student drop off lane for parents to drop off students is accessible for students in grades 1-5. For students PreK and Kinder we recommend parents to park and walk your children to the building. An office clerk will be greeting students and helping out parents at the drop off area. One custodian will be securing and supervising the teachers’ access lane. Teachers will have access to the parking lot by displaying the Staff Parking green card.

Accessing the building:

  • Teachers will create name tags for students in PreK, Kinder and Grade 1 to wear on the first day. All personnel and visitors will enter through the main front office entrance. All personnel will wear their district badge. Admin will be greeting students and parents, guiding them to the blacktop to line up. Class sections are clearly labeled on the blacktop. Parents will remain with their child in line or may leave at parent discretion. PreK students and parents will be guided to the cafeteria to wait for the teacher. PreK students do not line up outside. The PreK paraprofessional monitors the students in the cafeteria. Teachers will pick up students and parents and walk to the classrooms. Parents will be dismissed from the building at 8:15. An announcement will be made.

Blacktop:

The 2 PE Coaches and the Campus Monitor will be outside assisting parents and students as well as monitoring safety.

Accessing Classrooms:

Teachers will pick up students and parents already in line from the blacktop. Parents will accompany their children to their classrooms following the line. Teachers will dismiss parents at 8:15 am. Students have breakfast in the classroom and instruction begins.

Lunch: 11:00-12:30 Teachers take students to recess, outside monitors will bring students to the cafeteria for lunch. Teachers pick up students from the cafeteria adhering to the set schedule.

DISMISSAL @ 3:25 PM

Buses/Daycare:

  • Bus students will be dismissed by teachers upon listening to an all call by the office at 3:23.

  • All students will be wearing a bus tag according to the bus or daycare vans they are riding. Students in PreK, Kinder and 1st grade will be picked up by our campus clerk and guide them to the cafeteria for bus boarding. Grades 2-5 will walk to the cafeteria and will be received by 2 monitors. Paraprofessionals will be securing the bus area in the cafeteria ensuring that every student on the list rides the bus/daycare vans. Paraprofessionals will account for every student by checking off students’ names as they board the vehicles.

Dismissal Areas:

All students will be dismissed from the front of the school by their teachers. Each grade level has an assigned waiting area for parents. Any student attending the after school extended daycare will be gathered at the Community Room.

Afterschool Traffic:

The drop off area will be accessible for students pick up. We encourage only students in Grades 1-5 to use the drop off area. PreK-Kinder parents will park and walk to pick up their children. Pre-determined teacher volunteers, PE Coaches work the traffic flow and crosswalks.

Dismissal not using the drop off area:

Students will be dismissed only to the parents or the parent’s designee. Parents will meet their children at their designated areas and teachers release the students to authorized parents/guardians.

DAY 2 AND AFTER PROTOCOLS

Same procedures as day 1 except no parents are allowed to enter the building. Students will be dropped off at the main entrance. Parents and students will be greeted; only the students will be guided to the blacktop or cafeteria if they are PreK students. If a parent has a school business, it will be required to show a valid ID and stay in the office while they are being helped by the office staff.

No parent will be permitted to have or accompany their children during breakfast or lunch periods.

If a parent picks up a student, the student’s pick-up procedure will be followed and recorded in the pick-up log.

Drop Off Zone Drop Off Zone

Drop off zone will be open every day in the morning and at dismissal. For the safety of all students and adults, we will only open one lane as in previous years. The second lane is for faculty and staff entrance to the parking lot. We recommend that the drop off zone is used for students in grades 1-5. Students in grade PreK and Kinder require more time due to car seats and additional personal supplies. In order to efficiently and timely expedite the drop offs, we ask that parents and students are ready to get off the car, including a kiss and a hug at home. Please do not park in faculty parking spaces-the first three rows or double park. We appreciate your understanding.

Extremely important! Please do not park in the yellow line adjacent to the sidewalk. Parking in this area blocks vehicles parked in the last row.

Transportation Transportation

Please notify your children teacher and office staff if your children will be riding the school bus. Transportation is provided only to those students whose parent signed a transportation request form and this was approved by the school office. Please call our office at (915) 236-3000 to verify if you meet transportation eligibility criteria.
