Stone Avenue Newsletter
November 2026 🦃
A Message from Principal Ortiz 💙🐬
Dear Stone Avenue Families,
As we move into November, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your partnership throughout our first trimester of school! October was a busy month filled with incredible events for our students, and it provided so many wonderful opportunities for parents to get involved on campus. From Walk to School Day, our Fall Festival, and the Boo Parade to Parent Conferences, ELAC, and SSC meetings, it was truly wonderful to see so many of our families on campus and to get to know you better.
We are so grateful for our Stone Avenue community and the support you continue to show our school. We cannot wait to move into Trimester 2 to build on everything our students learned at the beginning of the year—growing academically, socially, and emotionally!
Our ongoing goal is to make school meaningful for every student through engaging experiences, high expectations, and rigorous instruction. During the second and third trimesters, we will be taking a deeper dive into math to strengthen student learning. We are also excited about a new project our teachers are working on: creating short math videos to help parents support their children at home. We can't wait to share these with you!
Here are a few November reminders and exciting events coming up:
- STEAM Night: Join us for some student performances and hands-on learning on November 12!
- Awards Assemblies: We look forward to celebrating our students! Grades 1–6 will have their assembly on November 13, and TK and Kindergarten will celebrate on November 20.
- Day of Awesomeness: Happening on November 16! We can't wait for our students to enjoy this special day. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers and PTO members who helped us coordinate this amazing event.
- Third Grade Field Trip: Our third-grade team is putting our fundraising efforts to good use by taking students on a field trip this month. We love seeing your support turn into meaningful real-world experiences for our students!
- Thanksgiving Break: Please keep our upcoming November school break in mind as you plan your family time.
A Friendly Reminder About Attendance
Everyday matters! We encourage you to make school attendance a priority and have your children here every day. If you know your child will be absent due to family travel or another planned absence, please call our front office ahead of time to ask about Independent Study options.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Stone Avenue family. We are thankful for our students, parents, and staff, and we look forward to all the learning, celebrations, and memories still to come this year!
With gratitude,
Mrs. Corrine Ortiz

Attendance Matters 💚
Planning a Trip or Time Away?
With several school breaks coming up, we want to remind families that attendance matters! If your family is planning a vacation or your child will be out for a planned absence, please contact our front office to ask about Independent Study. We can prepare schoolwork for your child to complete while away so they can stay on track and have their absences cleared.
Please reach out to Ms. Esther Fisher for support with setting this up.
Need to Make Up an Absence? Our next Saturday School is November 14th from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM! Students will enjoy fun fall activities while making up a missed day of school. You can sign up through Parent Connect or pick up a permission slip in the front office. 🍂🐬
