Dear LES/OSC Families,
I hope you are doing well. I know the transition back to school can be hectic. I hope you are finding ways to enjoy this time. Whether it is soaking up a day at the beach or organizing school supplies, let's focus on the hope of all the great things a new school year can be. Be rest assured we are doing the work here, in preparation for tonight's Open House and the first day of school to make sure that you and your student are set up for success. Like I mentioned, we have our Open House tonight, from 3:30-5:30pm. It is a great opportunity to connect with your student's teacher and ease the transition. Hopefully you can make it. If you cannot make it, no worries. Just make sure to have your student bring all of their supplies on the first day.
We are excited about the start of the school year. Throughout the school year you will receive a monthly newsletter. The purpose of the newsletter is to provide you with the information you need to help your student to be successful. We value you and your partnership in your student's educational experience. Please never hesitate to reach out because we believe that supporting you, helps us support your student.
After School Plans: Please be sure to complete the after school form as soon as possible. We have extended the deadline for this to tomorrow. I know this is one more thing to do, but this information is very helpful as it helps us with the details of your student's dismissal plans. If you already filled this out, thank you. Click HERE if you still need to complete it. We also will have opportunities for you to fill it out at Open House tonight.
Field Trip Lunch Form: We are asking families to make one lunch choice for the entire school year. This means you will not need to make a lunch choice for each field trip. Please choose one of the following options for your child on the survey linked below:
- BRING A LUNCH FROM HOME OR
- PURCHASE A SCHOOL-PROVIDED SACK LUNCH (Sack lunch includes Uncrustable sandwich, cheese stick, fruit, veggies and milk)
Please complete this form to indicate your lunch preference for your student for the 2026/2027 school year. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us plan ahead! Click HERE if you still need to complete this. We also will have opportunities for you to fill it out at Open House tonight.
Attendance: Showing up for school on a regular basis has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and become more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important to success in school and life.
The beginning of the school year represents a time when students can renew healthy habits of getting to school each day and be on time. Here are a few practical tips to help support regular attendance:
Make sure your children keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
Turn off all electronic devices, including TV, phones, and tablets at bedtime. Have children keep their phone outside of their bedroom.
Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
Ensure your students go to school every day unless they are truly sick.
Avoid scheduling vacations and doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your children feels anxious about going to school.
Develop back up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, neighbor, or another parent to take your child to school.
Below are two resources to help your student have a successful transition back to school and highlight the importance of attendance.
Thanks for your continued support in ensuring students get to school so they can get the most out of their education and so they can connect with our staff and their peers. It is going to be a great school year!
Sincerely,
Eric Scheunemann

Nurses Notes - Ms Sivam
Health Services play an important role to help promote wellness and remove or reduce health related barriers to learning.
Here are a few reminders to make sure your student is ready for the school year.
Water Bottle: Please make sure that your student is bringing a water bottle everyday. Keeping hydrated is a simple way to keep the body hydrated. When a person is dehydrated they can have headaches, feel dizzy, and have poor concentration.
Lip Balm: If your student needs chapstick then please provide so they can keep in their backpack as needed.
Sunscreen: If your student needs sunscreen then please apply before the start of school if needed.
Medication:
Any prescribed medication for school we will need your medical provider to complete the medication form with their signature along with a parent signature. Medication must be in the original container for the school to accept.
Any over-the-counter medication will need the parent to complete the over the counter medication form. Medication must be in the original container for the school to accept. The school must follow the directions on the container. If the dosage is out of the therapeutic range then we would need a physician order.
Medication Form:
Immunizations:
As of May 2024 the State of Wisconsin has implemented new vaccine requirements which include:
Varicella (Chickenpox)
Any new enterer in early childhood, 4K, or students K-12 (including out from out of state) who are claiming an exemption to the varicella vaccination requirement because they had chickenpox disease will have a verification requirement of such disease from the student’s healthcare provider.
Families are able to sign a medical, religious, or personal conviction waiver. Please contact me with any questions.
Please update the immunization form if your student has received any vaccines over the summer and turn it in to your student’s school office at the start of the school year.
Vaccine Opportunity: O’Connell Pharmacy will be at Lodi Middle School on Thursday, August 27th from 3:00pm-5:30pm. Attached is their flyer with more details and to register.

Physical Education - Mr. Endres
The best time of the year is approaching, the start of the school year! Our gym has been lonely all summer and is ready for students to come back to learn, exercise, and have fun!
Over the summer we enhanced the gym by adding a mesh curtain to the stage area so equipment will remain in the gym and not back in the wrestling room area. Outside, you will also see an enhanced GaGa Ball Pit that levels the ground to make it easier to play at recess.
Remember to bring your tennis shoes to PE class and we will see you soon!
Question to ask your student: What unit is your student most excited for in PE this year?
Question to ask your student: What is a PE goal that your student has for this first quarter?
Question to ask your student: What concerns or challenges does PE bring to your student?
Also, be sure to check out the Lodi Blue Devil Stadium Fan Expectations, linked below.
Music News - Ms Sayeg & Ms Roberts
We are so excited to be back together in the music room! We will be jumping right into the school year with singing, dancing, and instrument playing.
Ask your student?

The Library Link - Ms Good
Hello from the LES/OSC Library!
I hope everyone had a good summer and is finding some things to look forward to for the upcoming school year.
We’re so excited about getting kids back to school and into the library this year, and there are a few little changes kids can look for in our space!
Also, Ms. Skelton is working hard on getting a bunch of new books ready for everyone, (shown in the picture.)
If any books showed up over the summer, feel free to send them in at your earliest convenience!
Ask me . . .
What am I looking forward to this year in the library?
What was one of my favorite books from last year?
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions at goodamy@lodischoolswi.org.
See you soon,
Ms. Good
