OWL NEWS
VOLUME 4 - SEPTEMBER 15, 2025
Owls,
What a joy it was to see so many families at our Open House! Your presence and partnership mean the world to us, and it truly set the tone for a fantastic school year.
Classrooms are now buzzing with energy as routines are being established and students dive into meaningful learning experiences. From math challenges to creative writing, our young scholars are already showing incredible growth.
We’re also thrilled to kick off the soccer and volleyball seasons with great enthusiasm and team spirit. Whether on the field or in the classroom, it’s clear—we’re off to a soaring start!
We would like to remind everyone how important it is to follow our Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal procedures (can be found below).
With much love and appreciation,
Ms. Kama-Starr and Mr. Cohen

FROM NURSE UPPERMAN
Hello Riverside Families,
Nurse Upperman here! I’m very excited to share some wonderful news—we’re partnering with Cleveland Clinic this school year to bring high-quality medical care directly to Riverside!
Each month, the Cleveland Clinic Mobile Health Van will be on-site to provide a variety of services for our students, including:
- Well visits and annual physicals
- Immunizations and updates to existing immunizations
- Mental health support and evaluations
- Care for chronic health conditions
- Adolescent reproductive health services
If you’re interested in having your child seen by the Cleveland Clinic team, please take a moment to fill out this form. Once completed, a member of the Cleveland Clinic staff will reach out to schedule your child’s appointment during the school day on a date when the van is here. Please note, this is to support your regular physician and this will not replace your regular provider.

We’re thrilled to offer this opportunity to support the health and well-being of our Riverside students!
Warmly,
Nurse Upperman
PTC CORNER
The PTC would like to thank everyone for making our first Family First Night of the year a success. We raised $200 from our event at Gionino's and families were able to spend a night homework-free enjoying pizza and time with one another. Our next Family First Night will be at Raising Canes in Lakewood on Wednesday 9/24.
We also want to thank everyone who was able to make it to Open House last week. We hope you enjoyed the Book Fair, Malley's Bars, 50/50 raffle, Raising Cane's Prize Wheel, numerous community partners and Swenson's Food Truck as much as we did!
We had our first PTC meeting of the year on 9/9 and have a lot of fun events in mind for this school year... including one new one we've never tried at Riverside before at the end of October! If you're interested in joining the PTC or just learning more about what we do, please feel free to join us at our next meeting on Tuesday September 30th in the Riverside cafeteria!
ATTENDANCE
- Please call the office (216-838-6700) if your child will not be at school.
- Scholars are tardy after 9:35AM.
- Scholars will not be released early from school without the office receiving communication and consent from a family member by 3:30PM. We also ask that scholars are not picked up between 3:00PM - 4:05PM. This is to support our preparations for dismissal.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
DROP-OFF (Arrival)
-
Drop-off begins at 9:15 AM.
-
This is a rolling line: Pull up → Scholars hop out → Families drive off.
-
Please ensure your child is ready to exit the vehicle quickly and safely when you reach the drop-off zone.
PICK-UP (Dismissal)
-
Dismissal begins at 3:55 PM.
-
Pick-up also follows a rolling line model: Pull up → Display your pick-up card on your dashboard → Wait for your child to be brought to you.

NEW THIS YEAR -- Any family choosing to walk to Riverside to pick up their child, will need to pick them up, with a pick up card, from the cafeteria door. No families will be permitted to stand in front of the main entrance nor enter the main office from 3:30-4:05PM.
