We acknowledge that Killam Public School is on Treaty 6 territory - the ancestral and traditional land of many Indigenous groups. We are grateful for the animals, the water and the forests that provide us with many resources we use each day. We are thankful for the diverse opportunities that this land offers. We respect the land in which we gather on today.

Hi! My name is Shannon "Cote" Irving. I have been an EA in BRSD for 11 years and in Grassland School Division for 16 years.

I lived in Brooks for 25 years before returning to the Killam area. I attended KPS "many" years ago and graduated from CHSPS.

I have 3 children and am thrilled to have 4 grandchildren who I love spending time with. I also enjoy quilting, reading, & spending time camping at the lake.

National Volunteer Week: April 27 to May 3 National Volunteer Week: April 27 to May 3

National Volunteer Week is being celebrated from April 27 to May 3, 2025. This year's theme, Volunteers Make Waves, highlights the impact and collective work of many individual volunteer efforts. Volunteering creates movement—like a wave. Each motion and gesture shifts to transform energy.

Let's celebrate efforts of KPS volunteers this week and throughout the year! Thank you for helping make our school amazing!

Morgan Cox - Breakfast Program Morgan Cox - Breakfast Program

Morgan, one of our breakfast program volunteers, was recently featured on the Breakfast Club of Canada's blog. We at KPS are grateful for all Morgan (and her team) do to support our students by providing students with nutritional breakfast choices every day!

An exerpt from the blog:

Why Volunteering Matters

When asked if they would recommend volunteering with a school breakfast program, Morgan’s response was immediate: Absolutely.

“Many kids don’t have access to breakfast, and this is an easy way to make a positive impact in someone else’s life.”

It’s a simple action with a powerful ripple effect—ensuring that no child starts their school day on an empty stomach and reinforcing the strength of a community that looks out for one another.
