SHS Halloween Fun

There was plenty of dressing up all last week as the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) club organized dress up days to bring awareness to their message. Halloween also had students displaying their creativity. Pictured above, Ava, Hannah, and Aryison show off their love for the founding fathers--and the musical Hamilton! They even found a king, Mr. Holler, to declare independence from-- hanging out in the sophomore hall!

Day of the Dead Celebrations a Student Favorite

Mrs. Nordquist's Spanish classes spent last week learning about and preparing to celebrate Day of the Dead on November 1 and 2. Students in Spanish I researched and wrote about a famous Spanish-speaker before drawing on their creativity to create ofrendas representing the person's life and showcasing traditional Day of the Dead elements. Students in Spanish II created and flew kites like those used in Guatemala to celebrate the holiday.

SADD Mini-Conference a Success!

Over 20 students attended the SADD Mini-Conference held last Friday after school. SADD advisor Mrs. Filipek and teacher volunteers led students in activities to build relationships. The students participated in group and activities and team times in order to get to know their fellow students and staff better. Healthy relationships lead to healthy choices!
