Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

Mae Carol Jemison is an American engineer, physician, and former NASA astronaut. She became the first African-American woman to travel into space when she served as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992.

Tuesday, February 20th, will be the 8th Grade Class of 2024 Panoramic Photo. Information and ordering materials have been sent home with your students. If your student lost their packet, additional copies are available in the TJMS office.

Amistad High School has partnered with Little Caesars Pizza to raise money for the senior class of 2024. The fundraiser allows you to buy pizza kits that you can have delivered to campus for senior students in need of sponsors for their Supreme Senior Night, or your can order for your own home and family and Little Caesars will donate money to the Amistad Senior Class. These kits come with all the Little Caesars ingredients to make your own pizza. If you have them delivered to the school for students, Amistad will store them until the Supreme Senior Night Feb 22nd.

To participate, visit the Amistad Pizza Fundraiser page.

The third and final LCAP survey for the 2024 District LCAP opens on Monday, February 5th. We want to ensure the voice of our community is included in the district process.

• When picking up or dropping off students, please do NOT stop in the outer lane of the drive way. If you need to stop and wait for your student to get in or out, please pull as far up as possible and stop against the inner curb (school side).
• We must ask that all families drive safely and carefully while in the school parking lot.

• Students should NEVER cross Jackson street except at the cross walks where they are protected by traffic signals.
• Please speak to your students if they walk to ensure they always walk to the cross walks.

The back of every student's district ID badge includes phone numbers and QR code links to valuable resources.
