What does this stuff do?

1. Bottom Out Weighted and Final Scores

The is the lowest grade any student can earn after completing CrissCross.

2. Adjust 69 to

Select if you want grades of 69 adjust up to a 70 or down to a 68.

3. CrissCross Bump

What can be done for students with a failing final score. You can bump their final grade to a their CrissCross score. CrissCross scores above a 70 get their final score adjusted to a 70.

4. Highlights

Select scores you want highlighted in yellow for easier visual inspection

What should be the settings?

There are no magic numbers/settings.

Learning happens when students are challenged, allowed to reflect, then correct their misunderstandings.

Settings will depend on:

  • students’ experience with CrissCross
  • level of course
  • difficulty of the testing material
  • prior communication – what will be expected of them.
  • a desired test average

BALANCE

  • If CrissCross is weighted too little - discourages learning from their mistakes, team discussion and see CrissCross as having little value.
  • If CrissCross is weighted too much - discourages students from challenging themselves, become dependent on the team for a grade and see the test as having little value.
