MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
CHS Community,
Happy Spring Break! I hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable time with your families. If you're traveling, please have safe journeys.
We're looking forward to a brief period of calm before a very busy final stretch of the school year.
Student schedules for the 2025-26 school year are now live in Infinite Campus. Students were initially recommended by teachers for placement in academic classes. Important: If you or your student disagree with their recommended placement, a grade change request form must be completed. This form needs to be signed by both the teacher and a parent/guardian before a school counselor can make any changes. Forms are located in the Media Center and main office.
Please note that class changes moving forward will be on a limited basis. It is crucial that students understand and commit to their current course selections.
CLSD "LET GROW" SPRING BREAK CHALLENGE
Let Grow is a nation-wide initiative to get kids and families engaged in learning new things and taking on challenges to develop more independence and confidence in our young people. Please check out the website and all the amazing FREE resources HERE. This is in response to the work we have done with district staff and parents focused on the impact of technology on development and learning and while discussing the book "The Anxious Generation." Please check out THIS SLIDESHOW and VIDEO for information about the optional challenge. This is NOT an assignment and is not for a grade. The purpose of this is to show students and families how capable our young learners are and to give them opportunities for independence. CMS/CHS students can turn THIS BINGO CARD (completed with 5 across or more and with a parent signature) for an entry into a PRIZE DRAWING!
We would LOVE to hear about (and see pictures) of what your students come up with! Please share your experience and thoughts with us HERE. And please don't worry if you are out of town or busy over break - this is NOT for a grade, just for FUN AND LEARNING!
Building Schedule Week of March 31
Normal week.
Enjoy your SPRING BREAK.
Mr. Tomco
MOCK INTERVIEWS
Today was a valuable learning experience for our Financial Literacy students at Chardon High School! We partnered with Ohio Means Jobs to conduct mock interviews, providing students with real-world practice and feedback.
We are incredibly grateful to the following local businesses and organizations for their participation and for sending their employees to interview our students:
- Middlefield Banking
- NDS Orthodontics
- NMS Accountants
- Progressive
- Allegheny Health Network
- Geauga United Way
- UH Geauga
- PuroClean of Western Reserve
- Sisters of Notre Dame USA
- Solon Manufacturing
- Geauga Park District
Their involvement was essential in making this event a success.
We are excited to continue our partnership with Ohio Means Jobs as Chardon High School will be hosting the Geauga County Student Job Fair on April 25th. This will be another fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with potential employers.
A special thank you to Mrs. Jodi Clute for her ongoing dedication to connecting our students with valuable employment opportunities and experiences within the Chardon community.
We appreciate your continued support!

CHARDON ACADEMIC DECATHLON
The Chardon High School Academic Decathlon team has earned an invitation to its first national competition since 2017.
The invitation to the United States Academic Decathlon Online National Competition comes after the team’s successful showing at state competition at John Carroll University earlier this month. At that competition, the team came away with 16 medals including a silver and three golds in Interview and two gold medals in Speech, highlighting Chardon’s long tradition of strength in the interpersonal events.
In the Speech event, where competitors perform timed, prepared and impromptu speeches in front of judges and a group of their peers, Senior Connor Mosher was awarded a near perfect score of 995 out of 1,000. This was 25 points higher than anyone else in the competition and is the highest speech score ever posted by a Chardon student. Connor was asked to give his speech a second time during the awards ceremony in a packed auditorium as a "speech showcase" where of course, he brought down the house!
“It has been an honor and a privilege to coach the diverse groups of students who have made up the CHS Academic Decathlon teams over these past 14 years and I look forward to following their continued success in the future,” Chardon ACADEC Coach Al Herner said.
Herner said CHS has only been invited to national competition twice in recent memory, in 2013 and 2017.
Our Hilltopper ACADEC team will be competing in the Online National Competition on April 16 and May 2.
