Back to School Night is happening tonight, September 4th at 6:30 p.m. This is your chance to be formally welcomed to the new school year, walk in your student's shoes from class to class and meet their teachers. We hope to see you there--please enter Door 12 for the South Gym (off the Kedzie Avenue parking lot). And, be sure to wear your walking shoes!!

There is still time to get one of this year's Salute to Service Shirts: T-Shirts will be on sale in the North Building Atrium tonight during Back to School Night for $15.00 (cash only).

All proceeds will be donated to the Flossmoor Veterans' Wall of Honor. Thank you in advance for your support, we hope to see you later!

Everyone needs a little help from time to time--tutoring at HF is back. Staffed by HF Teachers and Honor Society Students, there are plenty of options to help you succeed in your classes. See full tutoring dates, times and locations here.

Note: Students may obtain additional assistance by making arrangements directly with their teacher. The HF Counseling Department also has a list of private tutors who are available at a predetermined rate for families. For more information, please call 708-335-5613. Additional Days/Times may be added throughout the year (for example, during Semester Exams), please check the website for the most current list.

Quarterly incentives are a way to thank our students for being great examples of what it means to be a Viking day in and day out. As a reward for performing well academically, maintaining a low level of tardies and receiving zero demerits, past incentives have included a silent party, pancake breakfast and more. Mark your calendars for this year's incentives and do your best to be a part of them!

Our community expects and deserves conduct that uplifts our athletes, coaches, families, and one another. Attending our events is a privilege that comes with the responsibility to support in a positive, respectful manner.

To ensure a safe and supportive environment at future events, we will be taking the following steps, beginning with the next home game, on Friday, September 19th (Homecoming) :

• HF students with an HF ID only will be admitted to the next home game. No other students will be admitted.
• Only adults 21+ can enter the stadium and must show a valid driver's license or State ID.
• Any alumni (ages 18-20) must complete an alumni registration and verification. The process will be shared prior to the game.
• Increased supervision and security presence at games.
• Reminding students and attendees of our expectations for conduct at all events.
• Continuing to emphasize Viking Pride and sportsmanship through student and community messaging.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School and Honest Game have partnered to provide students and families with an easy-to-use College Athletic Pathway software and additional educational resources. We know that accessing scholarships and college athletics requires not only a commitment to athletic training and competition but also a commitment to academic success.

The Hidden Gem Half Marathon is back this Saturday, September 6th. As you may remember, the race runs through the Village of Flossmoor, including through HF's Campus. You can view the full map of the morning's road closures here. Best to all of the runners!

Homecoming Weekend is about two weeks away, and our Vikings are about to set sail. "Seas the Night" Homecoming Dance is happening on Saturday, September 20th at 7:30 p.m. in the North Gym. Tickets are $25 per person (plus service charge) and are on sale through Friday, September 12th.

If you are planning on bringing a guest to the Homecoming Dance that is not a student at HF, you will need to turn in a Guest Form to the South Deans' Office by tomorrow, Friday, September 5th.

HF Theatre is excited to bring you "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical" as this year's Children's Play! Stay tuned for the full cast list and more. We hope to see you in the Auditorium on September 25th, 26th and 27th!

Homewood-Flossmoor High School has been made aware that some students are using an app called Saturn, which is owned by Snap, to coordinate their school schedules. While the Saturn app has gained popularity among students, Homewood-Flossmoor High School does NOT endorse or encourage its use and we are in no way affiliated with Saturn. No student information, schedules, or teacher information is connected to the app and we cannot access or update any misinformation within the Saturn program. We want to ensure our families are aware of serious privacy and safety concerns associated with the Saturn platform.

• Weak Verification Processes-A New York Attorney General investigation found that Saturn failed to properly verify users’ school emails and ages, allowing non-students—including potential predators—to join school communities.

• Exposure of Personal Information-Inadequate safeguards allowed unverified users to access detailed student schedules, class rosters, and links to social media accounts, raising risks of misuse by cyberbullies or predators.

• Lack of Parental Controls-The app is not designed for parent or teacher use. Parents/guardians can only view their child’s data if the student sends Saturn an email granting permission. No built-in parental oversight or control features exist.

Our priority is student safety. We encourage families to have open conversations about online privacy, verify the safety of any app before use, and report suspicious activity immediately.
