Coats for Kids have arrived! π§₯βοΈ
Today we distributed 154 coats to our students and their younger siblings! If you submitted a coat request in October using the link provided at that time, your student will be receiving their coat this afternoon.
Please note: Our 2nd graders were on a field trip today, so they were unable to receive their coats. They will be getting them first thing tomorrow morning. π
Thank you, parents, for partnering with us to bring this wonderful opportunity to our students. ππ
A special shout-out to our two amazing parent volunteers who dedicated 4 hours of their day to help organize, match coats for siblings, and deliver them to each classroom β you both rock! β
Stay warm this winter, and have a wonderful evening! βοΈβ¨
Message from Brighter Bites π₯π₯¦π π
I am writing to inform you of a significant change that will impact our partnership with your school. Due to a reduction in our funding, the difficult decision was made to discontinue all Brighter Bites operations in Austin for the upcoming fiscal year. This means, unfortunately, that we will not be able to return to provide our services to your school in the 2026 spring semester.
We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause and understand the impact this news may have on your community. This decision was not made lightly, and it reflects the financial challenges Brighter Bites must continue to navigate to ensure the sustainability of the organization.
Our team will continue with what will be our final produce distribution at Pecan Springs Elementary as scheduled for Tuesday, Dec 2nd. Our staff will remain available through Friday, Dec. 19th to ensure a smooth transition and to provide any support or resources you may need during this time. We are committed to helping in any way we can as the school adjusts to this change. If you have any questions please contact Mike Pomeroy, BB's Vice President of Programs at mike.pomeroy@brighterbites.org.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and the support you have shown Brighter Bites. It has been an honor to serve your school, and we remain hopeful that we may be able to collaborate again in the future.
Thank you for your partnership and the incredible work you do for your students and families.
Best regards,
Rebeca Hernandez Gonzalez, RDN, LD
