DKHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
"Do A Job"
MAY 8, 2026
And the countdown continues, as our seniors will start their last week of school on Monday. Next week is full of activities honoring and celebrating the Class of 2026. Our Decision Day Breakfast, Pennant “contest”, and Grad Walk all take place on May 13th. Our Senior Tribute, which includes many community partners announcing scholarship winners and the traditional Senior Video, happens on Friday, May 15th, at 8:30 AM. Seniors will be dismissed after that event. Families are invited to join us in the gym on Friday for the Senior Tribute.
Seniors, don’t forget you have a mandatory graduation practice on May 20th at 2 PM. DO NOT MISS AND DO NOT BE LATE.
Congratulations to our SAC Senior Academic Athlete award winners. Jordyn Jones, Adelynn Stampfler, Jalin Lyons, Nicholas Muday, Violet Kokx, and Elli Timmerman were honored at a luncheon in Lawton on Thursday. These elite student/athletes earned a minimum 3.5 GPA overall and have at least 4 varsity letters from at least 2 different sports. Great work, Panthers, we are proud of you.
All of our spring sports teams are moving on toward league, district, and regional play in the next couple of weeks. On May 16th, baseball will host the 3-team tournament for the schools from all three divisions in the SAC that finished their division in the same position as DK.
We have completed all state testing and are currently in our AP testing season. AP stands for Advanced Placement and is college-level work where our kids have the opportunity to earn college credit through their test scores. It is very demanding work, and we have a very robust AP course catalog that we offer here at DKHS.
This week’s Hogie’s Heroes are a group of students who volunteered their time to complete a service project off campus. These students worked alongside Stu Bassett to clean up the Cressey Cemetery and do some general landscape beautification. Thanks to Alyce Donley, Wednesday Erwine, Brady Prichard, and Isaac Sexton for Doing A Job and giving back to our community.
Also, HH winners this week are the group of 5 EMT students who passed the test to qualify for the right to sit for the National Registry Test to become certified EMTs. Congratulations to Sam Champion-Paling, Izabelle Gruber, Roman Hull, Kristina Koan, and Mitchell Swift. This on-site dual-enrollment partnership with KCC has been another example of us working to make our learning real and relevant for DK students.
